Our family tradition is to get together with my family on Thanksgiving Day where we all pitch in and bring a dish or two. This year, I’m making my mom’s broccoli & cheese casserole recipe! It is really simple, cooked broccoli, butter, shredded cheese, and top with crushed crackers. We then get together with my husband’s family the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  I look forward to spending time with all my family this holiday season.

We love the sausage cornbread dressing and the green bean casserole the best! Also the pies……yummy!

My favorite recipe is so simple. Just saute asparagus or green beans (both work really well) in a couple of tablespoons of walnut oil for a few minutes. Toward the end, sprinkle in some walnuts and kosher salt. If you like a little pizazz, add a splash of good balsamic vinegar before serving.

My mom is from Guatemala so I love it when she makes her Chile Relleno Casserole for Thanksgiving- it gives us such an ethnic flair! It also helps her bring her culture to my in-laws that come to Thanksgiving dinner with us!
I also LOVE my dad’s homemade pumpkin pies. My dad only cooks once a year, and that’s Thanksgiving. I swear because his cooking is so rare, it makes it that much better when he does :)

My favorite? Everything, but, to be specific, double layer cream cheese, no bake, pumpkin pie!!! Yummy!!!!!!!!

A Brined Turkey!!! I normally brine the turkey in Chicken Stock, with some brown sugar, candied ginger, whole peppercorns, and all spice berries….

I always liked turkey, but brining has made all the difference in the world… It makes by far the juiciest Turkey I’ve had anywhere…

Anyway Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year… growing up my mom would go all out and fix it a few times a year, who says it has to be Thanksgiving to have this meal… :-)

“Thanks” for “Giving” us the scoop on all the deals… it really has helped our household….

My favorite dishes are the desserts. I dutifully eat the turkey, green beans, mac n chees, mashed potatoes and stuffing all to get to the desserts. As you can guess my portion sizes are very tiny!! My favorite holiday dessert is this awesome coconut custard pie my aunt makes. She hates making it (apparently it is a PITB to make) but does it every year just for me. I’ll enjoy pumpkin pie and chocolate buttermilk pie (another favorite) too. mmmm.

I grew up with mashed yams mixed with nuts, marachino cherries, spices, and topped with broiled marshmallows! Vegetables dressed up like a dessert!

My favorite holiday dish is pumpkin pie, but it has to be cold and smothered in whipped cream.

My favorite dish is grandma’s green jello thing. We have never had a real name for it but it’s lime jello, pecan, pineapple, cool whip, and sour cream all mixed together and its fantastic. She’s in her 90’s now and has Alzheimer so she no longer makes it but I do for every get together

Have you ever had a “dressing sandwich” — just top a square of dressing with leftover cranberry sauce, and squish between 2 rolls — I’ve loved this since I was a kid (and that’s many years ago!).

My daughter’s Sweet Potato Souflee. Everyone loves it and it is the only dish that is guaranteed to be empty by the end of the meal!!!!
