So what do you do with all the free samples you get in the mail? I used to order every single one of them whether I needed it or not. I’ve now decided that I won’t do that unless it is something I’m interested in or something I know a friend/family member would be interested in because I don’t need to clutter up my life anymore.
So what do you do with your samples? Here’s what I do with some of mine:
Free laundry detergent/fabric softener samples. I like to keep this available for short vacations because they are just enough for a couple of loads and don’t take up a bunch of space. It is very expensive to buy a small package at the laundry mat! Or I’ve even used these when I haven’t had enough stockpile and have run out of detergent…of course, I like to wait for a sale to buy more.
Free Hair Product , Lotions, medicines, etc. samples. The same as above. I like to use these for short overnight trips as they don’t take up much space. I also let my kids use these.
Any other products like diapers, women products, food. I just put these in our stock rotation and we use them!
Free Magazines. I like to get these to read of course! I try not to order magazines just because they are free but because they are magazines I will enjoy or be able to find coupons in!

I tend to do the opposite of you.
I like to try them/use them right away so they don’t clutter up the house. That way I am prolonging the life of the products I already have and am using. But I like your idea of saving some of the hygiene products for travel. I would also save these for visiting family and friends in case they’ve forgotten something. Sort of like Hotel-Jen. 
When I get to many shampoos and etc. from hotels my daughter-in -law will take them to the rescue mission in Indy for the residents to use…these are great for them as they are ususally only there for a couple of days at a time…I’m sure any mission would be happy to have these items.
I only apply for freebies I know I’d use. Then, depending on what they are, I keep them for travel, or use them right away since I don’t have space to keep them hanging around. I only keep a few of the travel things and use the rest.
My favorite recent freebie was a Swiffer!!!
I do the same as you I will order them even if I do not need a patricular item but I have a ton of friends and family and they love to get the items I cannot use and the ones I can I have a special box just for samples like you said and most of those I save in the box for vacation and overnight or weekend trips, so I order all I can I love to see my mailbox full of free items it is so exciting! I think it is really worth the effort!

Somethings are really usless to me so why bother.
I use some of my samples that I receive in my nieces and nephews Christmas Stockings. They love the small samples of shampoo, food, lotions, perfumes, ect.
