I always buy my more expensive oils at places like Big Lots and TJ Maxx. I can usually get larger bottles for less price.

To stretch your grocery budget, have vegetable-heavy meals instead of meat-heavy meals.

My smart cooking tip is to let my husband do all the cooking. I also try to replace oil with applesauce when baking.

My food tip is to cook as many meals in a crock pot as possible on the weekend. The food we cook on the weekends is usually the type of meals that can be frozen and then heated up during the week after hubby gets off work. We never cook long drawn out meals during work days!

When a recipe calls for ground beef, I usually substitute ground turkey–so much healthier!

Cooking tip: I add a half pound of cooked ground beef to a box (or package) of spanish rice before cooking the rice. Add about an extra quarter cup of water than what the boxed recipe calls for. A complete meal in one dish – and tastes good too.

I cook roaster chickens in the Crockpot with just a splash of lemon and some garlic and let it cook all day. The chicken falls off the bone and has excellent flavor plus it’s super easy!

I always make enough at dinner so there’s always leftovers. My husband takes these to work and we don’t have to pay for expensive fast food! My husband is also the envy of everyone in the lunchroom!
