Can you spend $25 or less for each person in your family on groceries? If so, you could win some free stuff!

I’m so excited to share the new All You Grocery Challenge. It is going to be a fun way for your to either get started saving on your grocery bills or showcase your advanced frugal skills!

I know you can do this as $25/week per person in your family is very generous! For my family of six, we would be challenged to spend $150 or less a week. My average spending for my family (even including toiletries and household items) is around $75/week.  So this is very achievable!

::All You Grocery Challenge Dates

Sign up for the All You Grocery Challenge by July 12 to be an active participant. The ALL YOU Grocery Challenge starts on July 13th and ends on August 17th.

::All You Grocery Challenge Guidelines

The challenge is to spend no more than $25 per family member per week on groceries. Do not include household supplies and toiletries in your total.

During the contest, groceries that you purchase count toward your weekly total. However, feel free to grow, barter or use stockpiled food to supplement your meals. Creativity and ingenuity count!

If you eat at a restaurant or buy takeout, the cost must go toward the week’s total. (This is an area my family needs to work so I will be watching our dining out $$!)

::All You Grocery Challenge Tracking

Save all your receipts as you will be required to submit them if you are a finalist. You can also keep track of your spending on the optional Spending log.

::All You Grocery Challenge Judging

All entries and exit forms will be judged by All You’s editors, based on the following criteria: Staying within contest spending guidelines (50%); creativity and ingenuity (25%); and healthy choices (25%). All You will select 10 finalists, from whom a winner will be chosen on or before August 24, 2009. All finalists must submit grocery receipts.

::All You Grocery Challenge Saving Strategies

Post your strategies on the Grocery Challenge Blog and share your money saving tips with others!

One Winner will receive a $1,000 grocery card and a year’s supply of Knorr side dishes. You will also be featured in All You magazine.  PLUS, the winner will appear on CBS’s the Early Show in December. No matter what — we are all winners when we save on our grocery spending! But really, I want all the extra goodies too!

I think this is something we can all accomplish and it will be fun too! I will be helping you with my grocery saving tips and grocery store & drug store deals right here and on the All You Grocery Challenge blog!

Thanks for telling us about this. I have signed up. I love a challenge, though like you, I don’t think it is much of a challenge since I feed our family on about 1/3-1/2 the allowed amount.

Darn it! I will be on vacation the first week of the contest and I know I’ll go over budget that week. Oh well, I am still going to challenge myself the rest of the time even if it doesn’t count…

I read abt this in this month’s issue. I can’t wait to do this. We consistantly spend way under 25 per person, I have 5 five boys and we average around 80 bucks a week, Including diapers and household stuff. It will be a good challenge for us though, one too many pizza nights can put you over…really quick

It seems a little odd to allow stockpiling and then tell you the specific dates the contest goes on for. Everyone will stockpile ahead of time and not have to buy anything. So the real challenge is going to be how much money can you “make” off of your stockpile. We all know how the RRs and ECBs can pile up as earnings. If we can trade and stuff too, then the key is going to be to not have to buy anything, and find interesting ways to make money on what you already have.

I’m not going to do the contest because I know so many people are better than I am with this stuff. (And I was even able to go for two months with only needing to buy milk and eggs and nothing else at the store.) So I haven’t looked up the rules, but I’m wondering how they count “earnings.” I’m glad that it’s going to make people who aren’t couponers look more closely at the different options out there so that they will start saving more money. But seriously, $25 a week per person? I spend less than $25 per week on a family of three. (!!!)

Wow! This is an amazing contest. I know some people out there who would be shocked to know that so many families can spend that little on groceries! Thanks for the heads-up on this! We’ll see what we can do here at our house with a family of four – should be very manageable since we do that now….we’ll see :)

I’m in I look forwird to using up my stock. I work for the school so I don’t get paid in the summer, I was planning on spend way under $25 a person but this will help me stick to my plan. I have to find out about baby formula, my little girls is on a special formula that costs a lot that could blow everything for me!

I signed up for the Contest!! I think the eating out once a week pushes us over that $25 limit so we will have to get creative! LOL Thanks and would love to win a subscription. I buy it at the store which pushes me over my spending limit! haha thanks

I love All You, and signed up for the challenge! Thanks, and I spend $125 a week for a family of six, and that includes toiletries, etc. It is difficult at times, but can be done.
