May 2, 2009 is FREE Comic Book Day. Visit a participating retailer and you will receive a FREE Comic book from this list.
This happens the first Saturday in May every year and is only at participating Comic Book shops. In my area, it looks like mostly specialty shops are participating. You can read an entire list of FAQs on freecomicbookday.com.
It may not qualify for the Barnes & Nobles Summer Reading program (or maybe they will!) but if comic books get your child reading something, I’m all for it!

None of these comic book links worked. Not sure what is wrong.

Links worked for me, Thanks Briana! My kids love comic books, in between sporting activities, will have to make time to get over there. :)
