This is one of my favorite places to find great deals! I usually am only able to make a Meijer trip every couple of weeks.
Getting Started at Meijer
First you need to figure out when the sale runs for your favorite Meijer Store. Most areas run from Sunday to Saturday. However, Indianapolis region and Chicago region run from Wednesday to Tuesday. I personally have two options where I live. I can go north and get the Sun-Sat sales or I can drive the same distance south and get the Weds to Tues deals. This helps me plan a little better because I can hit the Indy area if I miss the Kokomo sales. Sometimes the prices vary slightly from store to store.
You can view the weekly ad on www.meijer.com
You will also want to sign up for the Meijer Mealbox. This a valuable source of Meijer coupons. You can also create your shopping list and access recipes at Meijer Mealbox.
Coupon Policy
Meijer accepts all coupons. They have a right to limit quantities and refuse any coupon that looks suspicious. I’ve never had a problem using coupons at Meijer. Internet coupons are accepted.
Meijer doubles coupons up to .50. So a coupon with a face value of .35 will actually be worth .70 at Meijer. .There is limit of (2) of the same coupons that they will double. So if you have (3) .50 cereal coupons, they will only double (2) of those. Keep that in mind when planning your trip. You may to have separate your shopping into two trips or two separate orders to get your maximum savings.
Meijer also has manufacturer’s coupons that will “Spit” out at the register. These are called Catalinas. Sometimes, they will have deals where if you buy a certain # of a product, you will get $5 off your next order! Don’t miss out on these coupons! (Sometimes I go right back into the store to use them so I don’t forget to use them or don’t have to time to get back to Meijer before the expiration date!)
Sale Limits
You will notice in the ad if there is a limit on a particular item. Usually it will be limit 2, etc. If it is something you want to stock up, you can make multiple trips in the same week. Another way, is to shop with your spouse/kids and have them place an order.
Buy One Get One Free Sales
At Meijer, if it is a Buy One Get One Free Sale, you can use TWO coupons if you have them.
Manufacturer’s Coupon & Store Coupons
You can use one manufacturer’s coupon and one store coupon per item purchased. This is a trick most people get confused about. Since the manufacturer is reimbursing the manufacturer and the store is reimbursing the other coupon, you are allowed to use these two types of coupons for one item. Check the top of your coupon if you are unsure if it is a store coupon or a manufacturer’s coupon.
Rain Checks
Meijer does offer Rain Checks. You can ask for them at the register or the service desk. It helps if you have the ad with you.
Misc. Hints
If it is a 10 for $10 sale, you do not have buy $10 to get the item for $1. Stores advertise “Mix & Match” to make you think you have to buy 10 to get the sale price. You can buy 10, you can buy 1, or you can buy 11 and still get the item for $1.00. It is the same with 3 for $5, etc. The only time you do have to buy the quantity state is when the ad specifically states it. Meijer usually has 10/$10 sales with the 11th item free. In this instance you would have to buy 11 items.
Meijer Credit Card
You will earn $10 certificates after you spend X amount of dollars, 10% off your entire first purchase, 1% back to the school of your choice, Upromise Savings, and other exclusive savings throughout the year. (One week, it was 10% off general merchandise, 5% off groceries on a Monday – saved me an extra $16.00). But if you do sign up, make sure you pay it off every month and pay it on time…otherwise, you will lose anything you have saved by using the card! You can apply online HERE.

I was wondering how to get the double on the 50 cent or less coupons to work. I tried this at my Meijers when I used the self check and it didnt work for any of my 35 cent coupons I had brought with. Thanks!!
As a employee of Meijer, Just check with the cashier. They have the empowerment to override if they to think that it should be doubled. If not just keep asking for a Service Coordinator or Manager to look at the coupon. Meijers wants to keep you coming back and most of the time will over ride the computer system. They call it the 5 dollar empowerment rule. Most customers just walk out and don’t go back, WE want your business, and for you to be happy with the shopping experience. If your not happy there is a survey you can do on line. And yes if you are not happy someone will be calling you in the next day or two to find out why. If you feel you need to call the store ask for the Store Director, give him as much info on your shopping experience as possible. And don’t forget to remember for employees that said hi, good afternoon. They like to hear good news also not just the bad.
I too have not had any of my less than 50 cent coupons double at Meijers. Is there a trick to it?
I think the double coupon must be regional. My IL Meijer does NOT offer this.
How do I sign up for the Meijer Mealbox? I am becoming frustrated trying to find the place to sign up. I saw something that said “get widgit”. What is a widgit and is that where I sign up? I am not on Facebook and do not know for sure what the other options mean. I just want to be able to print coupons.
Thanks for your help.

I have noticed that most if not all coupons found in Meijer Mealbox state at the top that they are a Meijer manufacturer coupon. Doesn’t this mean that they are in fact a manufacturer coupon and that they cannot be “stacked” with another coupon? Just because it can only be used at Meijer does not make it a “store” coupon. Right? Because I have had some coupons for Meijer that have “manufacturer” at the top and others that say “store.” This week (4/12/09) you have the Danimals yogurt, using two coupons, but at Meijer Mealbox, the coupon does say at the top “manufacturer.” So actually you shouldn’t be stacking it with another manufacturer coupon, right?
Will Meijer take a coupon for an item after a purchase if I take the receipt back later in the week?
My Meijer doubles coupons up to 99 cents, and I’ve not had any trouble with 25 cent or 35 cent coupons doubling automatically. I’m in Ohio.

My Meijer- Grandville, Michigan informed me that they do not double any coupons. I emailed Meijer corporate and am waiting to hear back from them regarding this. It does seem store to store- I’m not sure who authorizes the doubling?
Also- has anyone seen the “CM promotion” thing that prints near the top of your reciept? What does this mean? thanks!
