Black Friday 2011 | Tips, Apps, Price Matching, and More!

It’s almost that time again.  Waking up at 4 a.m. Oh, wait, I mean, right after turkey thaws out on Thanksgiving Day. I’m so not a morning person but I also don’t think I will be interrupting family time to go shopping.  Last year, I wrote about Black Friday Savings Tips, which included how to plan the big day all out.

Never, ever, go out on Black Friday without a shopping plan. I tried that once and found myself literally walking in circles I was so confused and overwhelmed.  Plan out your day thoroughly. Bring a partner. Bring supplies. Dress in layers. Wow, this sounds like an adventure, right?

Technology

After you have decided what items are on your shopping list, you can visit Bargain Briana Black Friday Page or a site like Black Friday 2011, which has many of the store’s ads uploaded. While, many of the stores have their Black Friday ads up already either on their websites or Facebook pages, Black Friday 2011 is a website that compiles all of these into one place.

App to save you money

Shopkick – Earn “kicks” by simply opening up in the app in participating stores such as Target, Simon Malls, Best Buy, etc.  You will also unlock discounts to save on your shopping trip. Redeem your “kicks” for gift cards.

Foursquare – Check into stores via the Foursquare app to unlock discounts for particular stores. I made a unplanned shopping trip to American Eagle a few weeks back, checked in via Foursquare, and was able to save 15% in a matter of seconds.  JCPenney is also giving $25 to the Salvation Army for every Black Friday Foursquare check-in (up to $100,000).

Black Fly Day – This is a new app which allows you to share real time deals with your friends.

TGI Friday App – Get all the ads at the tip of your fingers!

Endorse – This is a app via Facebook. Essentially, you “endorse” products or stores, purchase the items or shop the stores, pop your receipts into “Netflix” like mailers, and earn around 2% cash back. Earn 2% back at Target (2%), Walmart (2%), and Old Navy (2%) to just name a few!

Walmart Price Matching

 Walmart’s Ad Match Guarantee is in affect on Black Friday. It must be an identical item for the price match to apply. Certain limitations do apply.

From the time period of November 1 – December 25, Walmart is offering a In-Store only Christmas Price Guarantee for branded, general merchandise including electronics, toys, home goods, hardware, etc. Excludes food or grocery items. Simply take your Walmart receipt and proof of competitor’s lower advertised price for the identical item including brand, size, color, quantity, grade, and model number. Limit quantity items are excluded and the item must be in stock at the competitor’s location. This does exclude Black Friday ads but if you come across an item you purchased with a lower price elsewhere in this time period, Walmart will give you a refund back in the form of Walmart gift card.
