Cash Back Program: Ebates $5 Bonus

Of all the cash back reward sites, Ebates is the one I’ve used the longest. I’ve been a member since 2001. So you could say I was a early adopter. I’m still constantly surprised at the people who do not know about Ebates or don’t use it!

What is Ebates?

Ebates, founded in 1998,  was the pioneer of Cash Back Shopping.  Basically, you shop through their links and you will earn cash back for your purchases. You must shop through their links to earn your cash back and some stores exclude you from using coupon codes not listed on the Ebates site.

You may ask how they are able to do this?  They can because they make money off the links as well as other sites. However, they are choosing to share the revenues with their members.

Sign up

If you haven’t signed up for Ebates, you will want to do so today. Ebates is also offering a $5 bonus when you sign up and make $20 or more in purchases in the first 90 days.

Earn Cash Back

Once you have signed up for Ebates, you will go to their site and shop through their links. Once you click on a link, it will create a “tracking ticket.” Once you complete your shopping, you will get a certain amount credited to your account. You can see what the percent back is for each merchant before you shop.

It can take up to 48 hours for a purchase to be credited to your account. You can check and make sure your click tracked by going to My Account and viewing your tracking tickets.

Other Ways to Save

Ebates offers coupon codes and discount links for their merchants. You can rest assured you will find a wide variety of discounts for the over 1,200 merchants, even EBAY! Ebates also offers other opportunities to save like Daily Doublers, featured stoers, and featured coupons!

Get Paid

Ebates sends out cash back payments for purchases quarterly. If you’ve earned less than $5.01 cash back, they will carry over your money to the next check. Your Bonus Rewards do not count toward the $5.01 minimum.

You can choose to receive your payment via Paypal or you can donate your cash back to your favorite charity. Just this week, I received my holiday shopping cash back!

With the holidays slowly approaching, many people are on a tight budget. There are ways to save on your online purchase this year.

You can earn a little cash back when you order online by using these cash back programs. Many of the cash back programs also offer access to coupon codes for that particular store. A few of my favorite Cash Back Programs are listed below:

  • Ebates: Earn a percent back quarterly by shopping through Ebates online links. You also earn $5 just for signing up.
  • Swagbucks: Not only can you can Swagbucks for online shopping purchases, you can earn Swagbucks just for doing your normal online searches. You can turn your Swagbucksinto rewards such as Amazon Gift Certificates, iPhones, video games, and more
  • Cashbaq: Earn a percent back on shopping through the Cashbaq links.
  • Mr. Rebates: Earn a percent back on shopping through the Mr. Rebates links.
  • Shop at Home: Earn a percent back when you shop through the Shop at Home link.
  • Big Crumbs: Are you a Crumb Earner or Crumb Saver?

Another way to earn a little extra dough is by turning in some of your old electronics for cash. A favorite site to do this is Gazelle. Reader Question: Monetizing Your Blog

Since I get numerous emails about week about blogging, this information should be a useful tool to those of you looking to maximize your earning potential with your blog.

First of all, you have to content that people are interested in. My friend, Andrea, Mommysnacks.net, has created a wonderful “Beginning to Blog” series, which offers helpful advice on how to get started blogging. My best advice is to blog on something you are passionate about.

So once you have your niche and have built up a audience, how do you make money on your blog? This is a common question.

Sponsored Posts

Work with companies and brands directly or you can sign up through Social Spark, a company I’ve worked with for the past two years and earn money through sponsored posts opportunities.

Ad Networks

If you have any traffic, you need an ad network as it is the easiest way to make money on your website or blog. Ad networks pay based on cost per click (CPC) or cost per 1,000 page impressions (CPM). For example if you have 10,000 page impressions, you would divide 10,000 by 1,000 = 10. If your CPM was $2, you would earn $20 (10 x $2). So basically, advertisers pay either when users click on ads on your site or when the ad is shown on your site.

You will also want to check out the rules for the ad network you joining. For example, some ad networks will not allow you to do any pay per post, post about events you attend for companies, or use company logos in your posts. You will want to consider these factors when you sign up for an ad network. Other ad networks will want you to sign a contract for exclusivity. Others have certain placements where they want you to feature their ads.

Google Adsense: Google Adsense is usually the first ad network websites start to use. You can use Google Adsense with other networks. You can integrate Google Adsense into your blog RSS feeds as your email newsletter. On my site by setting up channels to track different ad codes, I’ve found the 300×250 size maximizes my revenue.

Chitika: Can work alongside Google Adsense. This network can be set up so only users who find your site through a search engine see ads related to their search. Obviously, the more search engine traffic you have, the better results you will have. Put the ad nearest the top as possible to get the most impressions.

Burst Media: Similar to Google Adsense. They also have premium networks available.

SyndiGo: These ads show content from the network such as the Today Show as well as advertisements.

Kontera: Kontera offers in site relevant links on your site. You get paid per click with this network. Any double underlined in blue links you see on my site on Kontera in site link ads.

Affiliate Networks

Affiliate networks offer publishers the opportunity to earn money off referrals of some sort, such as a purchase at an online retailer, signing up for a freebie, or various other reasons usually with CPA (Cost per Action). With affiliate networks, you really have to know your audience to maximize the revenue. For example, on my site any freebie, coupon, or way to earn money is going to work well.
