It has been a long time since I’ve written about MyPoints. As a matter of fact, it is has been almost a year since I first wrote about MyPoints. So it is time to remind you about this great program and how you can earn points for gift cards and other items.
I joined MyPoints back in October 2007 and have earned over $125 in gift cards by clicking on emails without actually buying anything, signing up for newsletters, searching the internet with their web search, and taking short surveys. You can even earn points by printing out coupons. Yep, you can get paid to print/use coupons! Getting paid to print and use coupons – sweet!
Other Ways to Earn Points
- Shop online through their links (I prefer to use a cash back site such at Ebates, Mr. Rebates, Big Crumbs, or Cashbaq for my online purchases.)
- Shop or book travel
- Play Games
- Refer a friend. You earn 250 points when your friend earns their first 250 points.
- My Points Credit Card
- Trial Offers I don’t do these as I forget to cancel within the free trial period but I wanted to point out this is another way to earn points. Sometimes these include Netflix or Blockbuster!
Organizing
Sign up for an additional email address that you specifically use for free offers, newsletters, etc. so your regular email doesn’t get overfilled and you won’t fill overwhelmed. I personally have several Gmail email accounts, which is a free service. I have a separate email account just for my rewards programs so I don’t feel overwhelmed or have important emails from family and friends get lost in the shuffle.
In gmail, you can set up filters. Set up a filter for a your MyPoints emails and only check these a couple of times a week. You can accumulate quite a few points by just clicking on these emails every few days. Click and delete to clear your email account.
Redeeming
Now that you’ve earned enough points to cash in for rewards, you can choose from over 70 different merchants. Donate to charity, cash in for CVS gift cards, or many other rewards! My points turn into CVS gift cards or Amazon gift cards. MyPoints states 6-8 shipping time for your rewards. In my experience, I’ve received my rewards very quickly in 2-3 weeks.
