Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life Review + Deal
by Briana Carter on March 22, 2012
Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life from www.Phase4Films.com is now on DVD and digital video. This PG rated, family friendly movie is great idea for a family movie that you will comfortable with the entire family viewing! Plus, right now it is available on Amazon for just $9.99 ($29.99 SRP.)
Jeremy Fink receives a mysterious wooden box a month before this 13th birthday with the words “The Meaning of Life.” He is to open this on this 13th birthday. But where are the keys to open the locks? Jeremy and his best friend Lizzy use their imaginations to search throughout Manhattan for clues. They meet all sorts of interesting characters on the way.
Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life is based on the beloved book by Wendy Mass. The movie is directed by Tamar Halpern, who gives an answer to why specific actors were chosen for the movie:
What made you choose these specific actors?
Maxwell Beer, who plays the title character, was an easy fit because he IS Jeremy Fink. Awkward and adorable, he embodied the role. Ryan Simpkins, who plays Lizzy, is a strong actor who could handle the sassy lines with ease as well as be openand vulnerable to help bring the film to a deeper level. During rehearsals, as we worked on the scene where Jeremy destroys the time machine, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Ryan delivered her lines. The same is true every time I see thefilm. Max and Ryan had incredible chemistry off screen as well and the proof is in the hilarious blooper reel on the DVD.
Mira Sorvino is an incredible actor to work with because she made beautiful suggestions that resulted in a page one rewrite of Elaine, Jeremy’s mother. Mira gave me the freedom to develop a mother-son relationship that was much more like my own relationship with my son. I love the scenes between Jeremy and Elaine and incidentally, my son wrote the music for the emotional last scene between Jeremy and his mom, where they talk about the Shel Silverstein book The Giving Tree.
Joe Pantoliano was a lot of fun to work with as he brought a whole layer of magic into Oswald and improvised some great lines that stayed in the film (“Have you ever read Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now?”). A lot of his lines were improvised which was a credit to our editor, Maria Cataldo, who made those scenes really work. Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) was a perfect choice to play James, the mysterious limo driver who watches over the children and reveals all the secrets at the end. He’s a friendof mine as is Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), who plays Madame Zaleski, which is the only scene in the film that makes grown men laugh out loud! Betsy’s an extremely talented comedic actor who I’ve worked with many times.
The older kids understood the plot of this movie but all of them enjoyed it! I would recommend as a family friendly movie!

Free Facts of Lice App + Fairy Tales Hair Care Rosemary Repel Collection Review
by Briana Carter on October 11, 2011
My kids have never <knock on wood> had dreaded lice yet. However, I did spend quite a bit of time with a Mission Group in Guatemala doing lice checks and treatments for kids who were infected very heavily with lice. Since then, I haven’t been as petrified of lice, though, I most definitely don’t want my kids to get it!
Elementary and Pre-School aged children are the most likely to get lice. The majority of the 12 million cases report annually are within that age group.
There is a product you can use to help prevent lice naturally. Fairy Tales Hair Care Rosemary Repel Collection are hair products infused with organic rosemary and citronella oils, which are proven to effectively and safely repel lice. No harsh chemicals!
Use the Rosemary Repel shampoo, cream conditioner, leave in conditioning spray, styling gel, or hair spray to help effectively prevent lice. Plus, it smells good! I’ve also noticed that I don’t have to use conditioner on Sofia with this shampoo as I’m able to brush through her hair easily after just the shampooing!
You can track outbreaks in your area to see if you need to up your prevention with the FREE Facts of Lice Apple App.

Kmart Slim Fab Clothing Line – Perfect Shapewear for Your Budget
by Briana Carter on June 22, 2011
Have you seen or heard of the new Slim Fab line available at Kmart? I was sent a couple pieces to try out and it isn’t your typical shapewear. Instead it is a collection of clothing from tops to bottoms that has built in slimming technology.
Like many moms, I have a muffin top. Sometimes when I wear typical shapewear, it is either too tight or won’t stay in place. I absolutely loved the Slimming Top for it’s comfort as well as style. It is also priced right for my budget!
I decided to wear the Slimming Top to a recent graduation party. It felt good to wear something that was comfortable yet made me feel confident in my appearance.
What do you think? Would you try Kmart‘s Slim Fab line?

3D Sneaky Puzzles Singin’ Sea Creatures
by Briana Carter on April 25, 2011
3D is one of the hottest trends around and here in the form of a Singin’ Sea Creature 3D puzzle. Put together the 46 piece colorful floor puzzle. Then, slip on the 3D glasses for a magical experience – you will see fish swimming towards you! So much fun for the kids (and big kids too!)
Why is it sneaky? On top of the fun 3D images, hidden within the puzzle are all the letters of the alphabet and numbers 0-9. This is a large puzzle as you can see from the picture. It was a little hard to get the entire puzzle into the pictures because of it’s size.
Actual size is 2′x3′. For ages 3 and up. Retails for $14.99 and can be purchased from Amazon.

Verizon Wireless Samsung Fascinate Galaxy Phone Review
by Briana Carter on December 29, 2010
Before Thanksgiving, I was invited to a Verizon Hap-App-Y Holidays bloggers get together hosted by my good friend, Cherie (Queen of Free). We had some yummy treats, fun with other bloggers, and had an opportunity to talk to the Verizon folks.
First of all, for full disclosure I love my iPhone and I’m also in the middle of a 2 year contract with my iPhone. So needless to say the Samsung Fascinate , though, very cool with some really functional features didn’t meet my phone standards.
However, the network is much better. It is faster and my favorite feature of the phone is the ability to use it as a wireless hotspot. Using this phone, I was able to create a network wherever we went, which meant my children were able to use the internet on their iPod touches and I was able to use the internet on my iPhone in places where I am not able to with AT&T.
The hotspot feature would be great for anyone who travels outside of their home and wants to use their wireless devices anywhere without an extra monthly hosting plan.
Here’s what I liked about the phone:
- Skype app is much easier to use than the Skype app on my current phone.
- Very thin phone and lightweight
- Integrate your social media profiles.
- Integrates with your google accounts
- Variety of apps to choose from to make your life easier or more fun including fan favorite Angry Birds! :)
- Takes really good pictures for a phone – the below is not the best example but I wiped my phone clean before I could save the good ones!
- Hard for me to text as the touch keyboard was very touchy.
- When I was on phone calls, if I leaned my face against the screen, I would hang up on people.
- No Words with Friends app available for this device!
If you are looking for a phone on the Verizon Network, I would highly suggest this phone.
