Thankful for my stockpile because…
by Briana Carter on December 11, 2008
I’m so thankful for my stockpile & crazy clearance capers because this week a local family of five lost everything in a fire. They were lucky to even get out alive since they did not have working smoke detectors. They were renting and did not have any rental insurance – something people just don’t think they will need.
Because of my crazy couponing ways & stockpiling, I am blessed to have so many items (everything from canned food items to backpacks & toys) I could donate to this family who desperately needed it with a moment’s notice. I’m telling you this – not toot my own horn – because this is what YOUR stockpile can do. Sometimes it isn’t just for you but it is for someone who needs it more than you. You will have these items right at your disposable. You can reach into your nice stockpile of items and give boxes of items away because you paid next to nothing for it!
Even if you are a person blessed enough to not have to worry about money and donate on a regular basis – think of how much farther your dollars could go if you couponed, CVS’ed, and stockpiled basic necessities!

I love your name, too cute. :) I really thank God for leading me to your site. You have given me a reason to continue to stockpile. Sometime I get so tired of seeing coupons everywhere ;), but I really thank God that he has given me the wisdom to start couponing. Why pay full price when you can get it for little ot nothing? Really? lol I’m still learning per say, but every week I’m getting much better in planning my meals and deals. I know if I stick with your site, I’ll graduate with honors. :) Thank you again for sharing your knowledge of couponing with me. God bless you and your family.

Could you pass along any info on this family or where I could drop off some items. I’m in Indy and assume this family is also. I would really love to help.
Thanks!
With so many of my friends losing their jobs it puts me in a better position to help. One of my best friends was recently laid off and thanks to our stockpiling, couponing and blog reading habits :-) he will never have to worry about food or household items (and still have my stockpile and still have plenty for the food pantry). Gave him my old car too (long story on how I was blessed with 3 cars over the past 20 years and decided not to sell it to him but just give it) since he lost his job with none in sight, it’s pretty certain he will lose his car soon and his building owners are nice since he has been there a long time but may lose his apartment at some point. He works to give everything to his kids.
Wouldn’t worry about “tooting your horn” as much as showing others what CAN be done. I cringe when I see someone in front of me spend $120 on a cart of groceries now.
Love your site. :-)

I cringe too at $120 cart of groceries…for us that is two cart fulls! :)
So many people are going to be needing our stockpiles in the months ahead – not just at Christmas Time! So don’t think you are crazy for buying things you won’t use! Though sometimes you do! You just never know when or who is going to need it!

Way to go! I’m so glad you posted this too just to bring awareness to what our couponing ways can do. And, I’m with you 110% on your last point: even if people are able to donate financially regularly, their money will go farther if they shopped savvy.
It does feel good to share – that’s the whole point in this: we can save and give!
