NOW CLOSED: Win it: Eco Store Package Ends 3/6

by Briana Carter on February 23, 2009

laundry liquid 1l NOW CLOSED: Win it: Eco Store Package Ends 3/6Yesterday, Eco Store products launched in Meijer Stores all over. I had the opportunity to try the laundry detergent & spray cleaner over the past couple of weeks…during a nasty flu virus going through our house. Did it stand up to the ultimate test? Oh yay, baby! Strong enough to clean the ickiest stuff AND Eco Friendly.

This past weekend we had another child sick – hopefully we are all over this stuff now! My husband didn’t see the new Eco Store products and used the name brand stuff we had to wash a pretty gross mess.  So I rewashed the nasty clothes in Eco Store and they came out smelly minty.  P.S. I don’t think it was because of wash #2 either as the previous week when I had to clean a  similar ick, I used Eco Store for wash #1 and that’s all it needed! You can read the full review: Eco Store No Nasty Chemicals.

Laundry $ saving advice: as soon as they are able, teach your kids how to use the washer/dryer correctly. My boys both learned on their 12th birthdays (it was a present…I’m a giver that way). This is not their favorite chore so they are less likely to just throw clothes in the hamper due to laziness — sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans and other outerwear can be worn more than once before washing if you’re just going to church and back!

My favorite money saving laundry tip is to hang the laundry outside. Dry it free! We love the smell of laundry dried outside too!!

Laundry money saving tip: Tear your dryer sheets in 1/4′s. Still works.

Cold water really does clean as well as warm or hot for most items — and saves on utility costs for heating water :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!

I think the best way at saving on laundry is to Febreeze items, like jeans/slacks, that really don’t need to be washed every time (unless you rolled in the mud, of course) and hang them back up! I also buy those concentrated bottles of detergent, where I get about 40 loads out of a small bottle.

I don’t wash my work clothes everytime I wear them. I’n not even in them 6 hours a day and I don’t sweat at work. Also I only do laundry if I have a full load. Not wash one pair of jeans because someone wants them.

I hang up my clothes to dry as much as possible. Saves electricity and saves the clothes.

One way to save time, energy, and water is not to wash small loads. I wait until I have enough for one big load and get it done all at once. Plus, cold water can be used for more than just dark clothes.

I cut my dryer sheets in half to make them last longer.
I just read that somebody cuts their dryer sheets in 1/4′s.
    I’ll try that next time!!

I only wash clothes on cold water and use 1/4 less detergent than the recommended amount.

    Product looks and sounds great!

I’ve been making my own laundry soap for a few months now, and it’s definitely been saving us money. I also cut our dryer sheets in half, use the cold cycle and try to let things air dry when I can instead of using the dryer for everything.

MONEY SAVING TIP: Instead of spending money on fancy fabric softeners, add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the rinse cycle. This also helps cut odors!
