By now you have heard about Selma Hayek’s trip to Africa. What was overshadowed was the reason she was in Africa – to visit Pampers funded UNICEF projects. While in Africa, she was able to witness first hand the impact of tetanus in a less developed country and its impact on mothers and families.

Every 4 minutes, one mother or child dies from maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT).Every 4 minutes. So by the time you finish reading this post, a child or mother will have died from this preventable disease. This is unacceptable as it only costs 7¢ for one vaccine.

unicef photo gal img10 300x161 NOW CLOSED: Win it: Pampers One Pack = One Vaccine Onesie (4 Winners)Living in the United States, many of us taking having access to water and hospitals for granted. However, many less developed countries do not have this luxury. Last year, I had first hand experience while on a mission trip. It really makes you appreciate what you have when people have to struggle just to get clean water on a daily basis.

Tetanus is preventable and can be eliminated with a simple vaccine. By purchasing items you need anyway – diapers and wipes, you can help eradicate the swift and painful death from Tetanus. How? By simply purchasing specially marked packages of Pampers and Wipes at the same price you expect from Pampers from now until May 1, 2009 – you can even use your coupons!  Your purchase will trigger one life saving vaccine for each item you buy.

You can also participate by blogging about this program, joining the forum, downloading the graphic or widget for your blog, or showing a friend about Hayek’s trip to Africa.

It is sooo important to vaccinate children. I am a pediatric neonatal nurse. I know some parents have issues with vaccines. The bottom line is… Vaccines save lives. DISEASE KILL babies and children. Become informed and make an informed decision.
    KNOW the issues.
    GREAT giveaway!

I was gunna order this onesie from the site but instead I donated ALL my current points to get these babies vaccinated…its sad that they die within a few days/months of life over something that could have been easily vaccinated against….this is a kool post and giveaway.
