20 Items You Should be Buying at The Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree

Are you fortunate enough to have a Dollar Tree local? If so, I suggest you make a pit stop when you have a few moments to spare and check them out. This isn’t a sponsored post, this is just a post showing love for my Dollar Tree as there are some great deals top be had at Dollar Tree!

Tip: Find the latest Dollar Tree Deals & Coupon Matchups!

Here’s my top 20 list of items to purchase at the Dollar Tree to save your family money:

1. Sidewalk chalk
2. Squirt Guns
3. Flip Flops
4. Party Supplies
5. Picture Frames
6. Crafts
7. Plastic-ware items
8. Greeting Cards
9. Coloring Books
10. Reading Books
11. Dish Towels
12. Coffee Mugs
13. Pregnancy Test (if you are lucky to have them carried in your store!)
14. Hair Accessories
15. Reading Glasses
16. Seasonal décor (my favorite things to buy!)
17. Kitchen Utensils
18. Bubbles
19. Candles
20. Gift Bags

If your Dollar Tree store carries non-perishable products give them a look. You may even be able to find some great deals.

I tend to find myself in the Dollar Tree more in the summer months than in previous months. I get a lot of great craft supplies to keep the kids busy in the summer. They also have great glass pieces that would be great for a upcoming wedding or fancy smancy party you may be throwing.

Did you know that you can order supplies directly from DollarTree.com? It’s true! I haven’t given this option a try yet simply because I love taking the kids to the store and letting them pick out a few items, but, will certainly be giving this a try in the future!

Tip: Dollar Tree accepts coupons so you can often get things VERY cheap or FREE with coupons. Find printable coupons here.

Gel pens…. Yes, gel pens, like the ones my husband loves to color fuzzy poster with. Some of the best gel pens I’ve bought have been from the Dollar Tree.. They don’t always have them in stock and the usually come in packs of 3 or 4 colors but they write and draw smoothly, without skipping, just the right amount of ink, and vibrant colors. My favorites are the glitter gel pens I got a few months ago.

Don’t forget latex free band aids, tooth flossers for the whole family, boogie wipes, and my favorite a two week supply of generic Zyrtec (cetitizine)!

I recently created a meal plan for $10 for one week of meals for one person from dollar tree. I would love to hear what everyone thinks of it. I posted it here – http://shopaholicsavers.com/?p=5297

I also like to purchase my cleaning supplies at Dollar Tree. Why buy the exact same brand in the grocery store for more when you can get it cheaper at the Dollar Tree? I also like the Seasonal stuff, such as wrapping paper, Christmas stockings. Being on a fixed income, I am able to afford more because of my savings at Dollar Tree. Thank you. However, wish you would carry medium sized Baby shower gift bags. I find the extra large and the small, but unable to find the ones to accommodate a baby afghan and a package of diapers. PLEASE stock medium bags for baby.

LOVE this list! I wrote a whole blog post about how I organized my kitchen with items from the dollar store, almost exclusively the Dollar Tree. I always buy my paper napkins, aluminum foil, parchment paper, and plastic baggies there! Half the price of other stores :)

The pregnancy tests that are sold in the stores are identical to the ones that Family planning programs in my state uses. I performed many a test when I worked at my local FP clinic. People laugh about the Dollar Tree test…I was 1 day late and that” cheap” test told me my daughter was on her way..she’s 6 now!

Reading glasses should only ever be supplied by an optometrists prescription. Those things you get in the dollar /cheapie stores are simple magnifying lenses, they are not meant to replace proper prescription glasses.

Sorry you are wrong on this one. My optometrist says these reading glasses are FINE ! I have been buying them at Dollar Tree for years.

All I need are magnifying glasses so I can read tiny print. My eye doctor calls these “cheaters”. She says they are fine for me to wear!

That’s all reading glasses are. Magnifying glasses. When you go to the optometrist you’re paying for him to take the mystery out of whether you need 2x or 3x

My optometrist actually suggested I use these and dollar tree was one of the places he listed that carried them. My eyes arn’t quite bad enough for prescription glasses but the extra help when reading small print is a BIG help.

i like to stock up on spices at Dollar Tree. They don’t have a wide selection, but they do carry the spices I use most. I’d rather pay a dollar for my Garlic Powder than what they charge at my local grocery store.

One of my favorite shopping places, especially for batteries, cleaning supplies, seasonal goodies! I truly support “made in USA” but I’m on a fixed budget and Dollar Tree really helps me get things I need.

My very favorite purchase at the Dollar Tree is Nature’s Own bread. It’s excellent sandwich bread with NO artificial extras. It costs $3 at other stores! The nearest DT is an hour from me, so I grab 10 loaves at a time and freeze them. :)

We do the same thing! I’m diabetic so it’s nice to find bread without high fructose corn syrup so cheap! We do have a few Dollar Trees in our area, so I definitely check them all out!

I agree about the Nature’s Own bread, but our local Dollar Tree very seldom has any bread. I was there two days ago and was told that the bread man had not been there for about a week.

The staff at DT doesn’t like to take the coupons, but the DO take manufacturer coupons. The will take unlimited newspaper one’s and only 2 computer printed ones.
Also to add to your list is bread. The bread at my DT flies off the shelf. The carry Wonder Bread as well as my favorite, Nature’s Own Whitewheat bread, as well as other brands. When I see my bread on the shelf, I buy three or 4 and throw them in the freezer.

Aargh! Don’t call it Tupperware! ;) lol. REAL tupperware lasts for upwards of 50+ years and THEN you get it replaced for FREE! This stuff you get at the dollar Tree not so much. Thanks :)

Depending on what part of the country you’re from you call things by brand names. It’s kinda like when people from the south call all soda Coke. I’m sure she didn’t mean to compare the plastic ware from Dollar tree to real Tupperware. lol

Tupperware is not replaced for free. There is a fee for everything. It’s a fraction of the regular purchase price. And for items that are older, you may end up with a piece that is a different color because they do not continue to make pieces for replacement.

My son loves to put up lots of window clings whenever there is a holiday/change of season. Not only do we decorate the front glass door, but the interior windows of the minivan! Of course, Dollar tree is the very best place to get window clings cheaply. And, I’d like to second your suggestion of the pregnancy tests! After years, and a small fortune, spent buying expensive pregnancy tests (and getting negative results), I reluctantly bought one from DT when I was feeling unusually tired…and finally got a positive result! The cashier said she sees young girls come in all the time to buy one and then return for another. She says they always state that it “said positive”, but “that can’t be right, because it came from Dollar Tree and was only a dollar”!
