How can you earn some extra cash on Amazon.com? Or just earn some extra money to buy all the items on your wishlist? Answer: You can sell some of your stuff you don’t need on Amazon.com.
I JUST started selling on Amazon.com. (I listed about 8 items, 3 items sold very quickly for decent prices.) I’ve been a big fan of Ebay for awhile but lately, things are moving slow and it does take some work creating listings. So I decided to try out Amazon after a friend told me about her success on it. One nice thing about selling on Amazon is you do not have to pay any listing fees upfront.
There are several selling options available. The easiest way is to list items by UPC code or ISBN Number. These are the items you can sell this way:
- Books
- Music
- DVD
- VHS
- Automotive
- Baby
- Camera and Photo
- Electronics
- Health and Personal Care
- Home and Garden
- Musical Instruments
- Office Products
- Software
- Sports and Outdoors
- Tools and Hardware
- Toys and Games
- Video Games
Or if you have already found your item by searching Amazon.com’s site, you can click the “Sell it Now” button and choose your condition, set your price, and give the shipping options you will allow. Amazon.com will tell you the shipping amount they will pay you. You can’t set the actual shipping price so if the item ends up more or less to ship, you have to live with that. Please Note: You have to sell within 2 days of receiving the order. (Not 2 business days, 2 days period.)
Amazon takes .99/item & 6-15% depending on the item. Mine was direct deposited into my checking account within 2 weeks. I’ve read it can take up to 60 days for new sellers.

If you are a frequent seller at Amazon.com, you might consider a Pro Merchant Account. The .99/item fee is waived and you will have more features like inventory loading and unlimited Marketplace Selling.
Easysell is another option. It involves mailing your goodies to Amazon.com and then they ship it out when it sells. Right now you can try it free until September 30, 2008. (I haven’t tried this so I can’t verify the success of this program.)
Advantages: Your items will also be eligible for Super Saver Shipping or Prime shipping, Amazon.com manages Customer Service and you don’t have to deal with shipping within the specified time frame.
Disadvantages: You have to pay to ship your items to them, pay to get them back if they don’t sell, pay a storage fee if they are in stock too long.
