Do you anticipate wrapping a great deal of gifts this holiday season? If so, you might be wondering about how to save on gift wrap. The good news is, there are ways that you can buy the gift wrap you need while still staying on the budget you have set. Take a peek below at 5 ways to save on gift wrap that you can try this holiday season!

5 Ways to Save on Gift Wrap

1. Check out your dollar stores.
Dollar stores a great place to find wrapping paper rolls, gift bags, ribbon, tape and more. Check the quality before you buy to make sure it is durable, and buy in bulk as stock at dollar stores tends to get picked over fast.

2. Try making your own.
Ask your local newspaper if they have end rolls of paper available. You can typically grab a large roll for just pennies if so. Take the paper, or use scrap paper you have, and stamp it or paint it to make your own frugal gift wrap Do you have scrap fabric tucked away? It is perfect for wrapping small gifts. Just wrap the fabric scrap around the item and tie it secure with a bow or twine.

3. Use that “must have” paper for smaller gifts.
Did you see a pattern in wrapping paper you just MUST have? Chances are those fancy and festive papers come with a hefty price tag. Opt for buying one roll and using it for smaller, more special gifts. Save the dollar store paper for the kids, as they are just more concerned about the toys anyway!

4. Measure before you cut.
Before cutting your wrapping paper, measure it to be sure it properly fits your gift. Nothing is worse than having too little or too much paper for your gift. It results in waste of paper, which is in turn a waste of money. Take a few seconds to measure before you cut and see what a difference it makes.

5. Buy non-licensed paper.
You may love Mickey Mouse or Sponge Bob, but these characters come at a price. You will spend more on licensed paper than you will basic prints. Opt for basic prints instead, and try to find your character paper at the dollar store. Some have carried Disney themes in the past!

You can still get your gifts looking great without spending a ton. Give these 5 ways to save on gift wrap a try and see how simple it can be.
