{NOW CLOSED} Back to School Giveaway: Invisalign Teen Clear Alternative to Brace Cash Giveaway #wingiveaways

August 16, 2010 By: Briana Carter1,478 Comments

Brace face no more! Back in the “day”, you know when I was a teenager, all they had to offer was the metal braces. Even further back in the day, my old timer dentist had suggested I use a popsicle stick to try to bring one of my teeth forward, which is just too funny. Apparently, I just didn’t have the time to sit with the popsicle stick to straighten my teeth.

Now there is a clear alternative to metal braces – Invisalign Teen. Your smile can be created with a series of clear aligners, which are custom fit for your teeth. The average treatment takes just about a year and is approximately the same price as metal braces.

My oldest daughter was just placed in traditional braces and I didn’t even ask about Invisalign Teen because I’ve always heard they were so much more expensive than traditional braces. Depending on your provider, the price can be comparable to metal braces with some very important advantages, with the most obvious being they are clear and more I will detail below.

Invisalign Teen is designed to be worn 20-22 hours a day. This means you can take them off to eat, brush your teeth, or if you have a hot date or important event. There is also no metal brackets or wires to poke your mouth and gums and I remember how painful that could be!

You can also now get up to six free individual aligners because as we all know these types of things can be lost easily by teens!

Healthy Benefits of Straight Teeth:
– Self Confidence
– Easier Brushing and Flossing
– Healthier Gums
– Less Stress on Joints

Right now Invisalign Teen is running a Back to School Sweepstakes to gear up for school “Gear Up From Head to Toe.” You can enter for a FREE Invisalign Treatment and a $500 shopping spree to Journeys.

Invisalign Teen is offering a lucky Bargain Briana reader a  $100 American Express Giftcard to help with your Back to School purchases! This is as good as cash! Remember, if you are considering braces for your child to ask your Orthodontist if they are a Invisalign Teen specialist!

I never had braces but both of my older sisters had those old, metal braces and the headgear they had to wear at night. They were so miserable. I’m glad there are some less traumatizing alternatives available now.

I remember that I broke my braces once…a bracket right in the front broke. I knew that my dad would have to pay extra to take me in to have it fixed and I knew he would be mad about that so I just never mentioned it until my next regularly scheduled appointment. My orthodontist was livid with me and one of my front teeth continues to be a bit crooked to this day because of it.

Thanks for the giveaway…when I had metal braces in the late ’70’s the dental hygienist at my orthodontist office once brushed my teeth with soap “to teach me a lesson” because she claimed I wasn’t keeping my teeth clean.

I didnt have braces but I do have a story RE my now 10 year old. At 7 she had braces and a spreader put in. She gagged and fought the ortho tech so much I was sure she was going to pass out. The girl was SO mean to her about getting the impressions…she gagged and threw up on her. I secretly giggled. She had it coming!

    thanks!

I actually shrank my retainers two days after I got my braces off because I put them in a to-go box with left overs from a restaurant. I tried to wear them for a couple weeks the way they were because I didn’t want to tell my mom, but when she found out she was not happy.

I never had braces but my youngest son did. The orthodontist is in a town 70 miles from us, so we have a ton of memories of trips back & forth to his office. Gave us more time together than we might have had otherwise during those 2+ years! During 1 1/2 years of that time, my son had his driving learner’s permit, so we racked up a lot of practice miles too! wgbc1446@yahoo.com

They tried out these new plastic ones on me (they were clear but identical to the metal braces) for two years until they realized that they were crap (they wouldn’t stay glued properly, etc.) and then they put me in the metal ones and I had to have them for four more years because the plastic ones had really done nothing for me. Torture!

I never had braces growing up, but my cousins did and I remember them getting the little bands changed to different colors all the time, and their mouths being sore from getting them tightened every so often. My oldest needs braces, so this would be awesome!

I had braces for the SECOND time in my early twenties so I had a metal mouth when I met my husband. I got my braces off a few weeks before we got married. My favorite memory is actually the day I got them off and the look on his face when he saw my NEW smile! That first “metal free” kiss was pretty amazing too!

I had braces when I was younger…and I so remember the summertime when I couldn’t eat corn on the cob….my mom would slice all the corn off the cob for me…but it just wasn’t the same! And then the worst thing was after the braces came off & I had a retainer. One time, I wrapped it in a napkin at school & accidentally threw it away with my trash!!

I actually used invisalign in college… one time I went on a school trip and left my “teeth” on the cafeteria tray at another school… Had to wait two days before I got back to my own apt and could switch to the next set a week early!

I didn’t wear braces, but several of my children will probably need to. It’s nice to know that there are options other than metal.
