Selfies. Described by the Urban Dictionary as:
A picture taken of yourself that is planned to be uploaded to Facebook, Myspace or any other sort of social networking website. You can usually see the person’s arm holding out the camera. A selfie is usually accompanied by a kissy face or the individual looking in a direction that is not towards the camera.
Kids love to take selfies…I love finding random photos of my kids on my photo….
I personally hate to get my photo taken so it’s not too often that you will see a selfie from me. Occasionally I will send a crazy eyed selfie to my friend for a laugh. She probably has a secret website of all my crazy photos I send her. HAHA! This month you may be seeing some selfies on my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram but it’s for a great cause. Let me tell you about this great cause!
Johnson & Johnson has launched the “Selfless Selfie” campaign that encourages users to donate their “selfies” via the Donate a Photo app, sharing their donated photos with friends and followers on their social networks to inspire them to do the same. For every photo shared through Donate a Photo app, Johnson & Johnson will donate one dollar to one of its non-profit partners, which each consumer chooses from a rotating list. If you are taking selfies anyway, you might as well help raise money for a good cause.
There is a huge list of causes you can choose from so there will be one that you will want to help! Here’s an example:
- PFLAG: One photo helps protect a child from bullying
- Girl Up: One photo helps a girl in Liberia go back to school
- Safe Kids: One photo helps a child in Mexico get to school safely
You can scroll through the list of causes once you open up the Donate a Photo App and see the impact of your photo in the action band. This will tell you what your photo did (ie: helping protect children through Safe Kids Worldwide.) When a cause reaches its goal, another takes it place.
Of course the Donate a Photo app is completely free to download and is available on both iOs and Android platforms. All photo uploads must be made through the app for the donation credit to be received. The photos are still accessible to anyone, on any device from mobile phones to tablets to desktop computers.
It’s super simple. Here’s how you can donate your selfie:
- Download the Donate a Photo on your mobile device and register. It’s free and registration is super simple.
- Choose your cause.
- Upload your selfie and then share it on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.
- Encourage your friends and family to do the same!
Did you get your Johnson & Johnson Healthy Essentials coupon booklet in your Sunday paper recently? If not, you can still print out your coupons at www.healthyessentials.com.
Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and you can donate a photo to one cause, once a day. Each cause will appear in the app until it reaches its goal, or the donation period ends. If the goal isn’t reached, the cause will still get a minimum donation.
We also have a great giveaway of an assortment of HEALTHY ESSENTIALS™ participating brands, including:
- BAND-AID® Brand
- CLEAN & CLEAR®
- NEOSPORIN®
