Fitness is probably one of the last things on your mind when planning a vacation or traveling for any amount of time. If you put a little thought to it though, you can easily add in workouts and choose healthy eating options while on the go. My advice is to pack a couple pairs of socks, tennis shoes, and a tshirt and shorts. If you have a washer and dryer where you’ll be staying, this is even easier because you can wear your workout gear to bed as pajamas and save suitcase space. When choosing healthier menu options, just be selective and plan ahead. Be sure you remember to eat at regular times also to avoid over-indulging later.
Some hotels have workout centers or swimming pools you can use. Or of course you could always walk or run outside with a friend (safety first!) Here are a few On-The-Go Exercises that you can use in your hotel room without any equipment needed. The best thing to do while on vacation is to practice positive thinking and increase your daily activities. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator and find ways to get in extra steps- at the beach, to the store, or around the vacation spot. Always remember that health and fitness is a marathon, not a sprint. Little decisions, like pennies, add up!
