NOW CLOSED: Giveaway: Coupon Mom’s Guide to Cutting Grocery Bills in Half Book (2 Winners)

March 10, 2010 by Briana Carter

Hasn’t everyone heard of THE Coupon Mom, Stephanie Nelson? If not, she has a new book out, The Coupon Mom’s Guide to Cutting Your Grocery Bills in Half. Stephanie breaks the book down into Rookie, Busy, and Varsity shoppers with tips that fit the needs in each category.

While, the book is largely promoting how to use the CouponMom.com website, there are little golden nuggets for experienced coupon shoppers throughout the book. She has also included numerous family friendly recipes in this book.

I can totally relate to Stephanie:

Stephanie says, “Nothing makes me more excited than showing others how to get a jar of pasta sauce for free by combining sales and coupons.”

Its a great feeling to share my savings and help others save as well!

Great news for my readers, I have been given (2) copies of The Coupon Mom’s Guide to Cutting Your Grocery Bills in Half by Stephanie Nelson to give away!

My tips: Check for local stores that sell the Sunday newspapers at reduced cost. Before you buy your Sunday newspapers , make sure there are coupon inserts that you want that particular Sunday. Also check to make sure all the coupon inserts are in all the newspaper copies you buy. If they’ve slipped out somehow, you’re missing out on savings!

always check the clearance section. I save all coupons, because usually the ones I wouldn’t normally use are the ones that end up being moneymakers later on. Also, when it comes to beverages, I find I am better off buying the slightly more expensive welch’s juice, because the quality and flavor is so good that you can dilute it to 50% and not miss a thing (not so with other brands). Much better value in the long run.

My best tip has been said before….check the local ads of your fav grocery store and compare those to your coupons. I’m usually amazed at what matches up and what I can get for free/very cheap after coupons and discounts!

We use coupons when we have them and buy things that we really need. A grocery list definitely helps, as well as eating before going shopping. We don’t buy everything at one store but go to 3 different sores to check the deals. Plus we go to the public market where we can buy vegetables and fruit so much cheaper than at any of the grocery stores.

While many stores have great offers. Don’t be afraid to miss one, or two. I generally only shop at walmart because it is 2 sec. from my house. And most of the good stores are no where near me. I miss alot of offers due to this, but I also still save alot compared to what i spent a year ago or even 6 months ago.

Keep all your circular coupon ads in a folder – write on the cover (of ads) with a dark pen or sharpie the exact date it came out of the paper. Look for sales at grocery stores like Kroger. You can sometimes get ridiculous deals when you use your coupon, they double it and the item is already clearanced out. I always check the toiletry aisle for clearanced items. Thanks for the giveaway!

ALWAYS go with a list! ALWAYS get the list out when you enter the store! I even mark items with a circled “C” to remind myself of what coupons I have. If you stay focused on your list, you are less likely to end up with extras in your cart!!!!!
