Holland House: Cooking with Wine + Money Saving Coupons & Free Recipe Booklet

May 24, 2010 By: Briana Carter1 Comment

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Holland House. All opinions are 100% mine.

At one point, I thought you could use any wine as cooking wine. Of course, the recipes didn’t turn out well for me. Since then, I’ve discovered there are wines made specifically for cooking, like Holland House.

::Flavor

Cooking with wine enhances the flavor of what you are cooking and really brings out the taste. Holland House is made from premium wine but it is adapted to have a consistency for cooking. The aroma makes your mouth water.

Holland House offers several unique varieties including:

  • Sherry
  • Marsal
  • Vermouth
  • White with Lemon

Holland House cooking wine does contain salt, so when you are substituting for wine in a recipe, you will want to adjust accordingly.

::Use

When I think of cooking with wine, I think mostly of marinating meat. There are so many other ways to use cooking wine even for vegetarian dishes like this Creamy Mushroom Sherry Pasta, which is first on my list of recipes to try as soon as I have time to cook again. You can add it to sauces, marinades, soups, and glazes, such as this glazed ham, to give them an extra boost.

::Money Saving

After table wine is opened for a few days, the taste can be off. Holland House Cooking Wine has a six month or longer shelf life. When you are only using the wine to cook with, you will not need an entire bottle of table wine so you will be able to utilize the bottle more effectively.
