You can easily organize this drawer to hold those little bits in an orderly fashion.
Organizing Your Junk Drawer
Empty It And Clean Out Trash: The first thing to do is empty the drawer completely and clean out trash. Empty wrappers, broken pieces and things no longer needed can immediately be tossed in the trash. This is the beginning of organizing your junk drawer.
Sort What Remains: Sort similar items together. Pens, pencils, rubber bands, etc. can all be lumped together as office supplies. Random take out menus and similar can be stacked together, and clipped to use later. Some items will be moved to go back to their homes.
Put Things In Their Homes: Evaluate what you have left. Some things will need to go back to their rightful homes. Things like your craft scissors, or kids random silly glasses, hot wheels cars or more. Other things may be there for a reason. While you will want to take office supplies back to their proper home, you may also want to keep in mind that junk drawer is handy when you need a pen, sharpie or note pad. Keep some of these items to be used later as needed.
Add Simple Drawer Organizers: The best way to keep your junk drawer organized is to add simple drawer organizers. Whether you buy them online, or grab them from your local dollar store, these simple divider trays are perfect for keeping thins orderly, yet still random. The idea of a junk drawer is to house those little things you don’t want to throw away, but don’t really have a good home for. These organizers will make that a lot more orderly.
Every home and every person needs something that is just a bit disorderly. Organizing your junk drawer gives you the best of both worlds. A place that can be a bit untidy, but organized at the same time. This week organizing the most unorganized part of your home will leave you feeling like you’ve really accomplished something big.
