I’m slowly decluttering my house! This area focused on the upstairs linen closet, which was a mess with towels and blankets just stuffed in the closet. It still could use a little work but I’m happy with the room I was able to make in this closet.
What I did:
- Removed all the nasty and torn bath towels. These can be used as rags and will be stored in a container in the garage. Plus, the kids had way too many towels they were using at a time, which clogged up their laundry baskets and I think has caused them not to re-use their towels as often. Less towels hopefully equals less laundry!
- Removed unused sheets and comforters. We had quite a few extra comforters in the closets, which were just taking up space. I have a hard time parting with stuff but it’s not worth it to keep these items around if it’s just cluttering up areas. I was able to sell quite a few sets of sheets and comforters on the Facebook garage sale boards in my local area. Made a little extra cash while cleaning out this area!
- Top shelf is sentimental blankets and quilts that I can’t get rid of! These include items made by grandmas, aunts, and great-grandmas including a few things that belong to my husband and I when we were babies. Top shelf so they are out of the way.
