There is a mixture of emotions that come along with back to school. It is a mixture of excitement to get back on a regular schedule filled with a little bit of dread for the busy school schedule, homework, programs, and all the other activities associated with back to school. There is a mix of emotions from children and one way to ease their feelings about back to school can be with fun little surprises in their lunch box.

    The kid in the house has a fixation for those large cheese hotdogs cut diagonally in several pieces, and served together with ketchup. I know, and I have explained to him that it’s not healthy to have the same thing every meal, and he understands. He generally would eat anything during meals, but his eyes have this certain twinkle whenever he smells large cheesedogs being cooked!

    School supplies go on sale right after school starts back. Only get the very basics before your kid goes back to school, and pick up the rest after school starts. Chances are, they won’t need many supplies the first week back anyways.

    Great blog! Thanks for sharing this! My son is not a big sandwich fan so this makes me have to get extra creative for lunch. I usually try to do a bunch of healthy snacks (he is more of a snacker) He loves veggies with dip and any type of cracker. I sometime put a bagel with cream cheese instead of a sandwich.

    My daughter loves good old fashioned peanut butter and jelly! Last year she almost ate that everyday! Now that she is taller and can see over the lunch counter (shes very shy) she can pick other items! It helps to print out the lunch calendar and let her know right before school what is on the menu for the day!

    My son really loves home made wraps for his school lunches. We add lots of different lunch meats and cheeses along with some veggies and dressings. A great time saving tip for packing lunches is make enough wraps ahead of time for a couple days worth of lunches.

    My biggest tip is to have as much as possible done the night before–lunches packed, clothes laid out, breakfast decided on, bags ready to go, etc. That way you’ll either have some time to relax in the morning if you’re running on time or you won’t be late if you’re running behind!

    They love cereal for lunch, instead for breakfast. I prefer they eat a bigger breakfast so I will pack cereal and money to buy milk at school. I will include fruit for the cereal.

    It may seem silly but my kids love left over dinner for their lunches! Like meatloaf cupcakes with bacon wrapped asperagus that was left over or mexican suffed shells to enchiladas! At a fruit cup and a dessert and they are all set!
