Upromise $150,000 College Scholarship Sweepstakes + $50 Target Gift Card Giveaway

October 17, 2012 by Briana Carter

In the next 18 years, the cost of a four year private college education is expect to nearly triple. Yikes! I thought private college tuition was expensive a few years ago when I was looking at colleges. To inspire families to make a commitment to save for college, Upromise by Sallie Mae launched the “Make the Pledge, Keep the Promise” Sweepstakes.

Enter the “Make the Pledge, Keep the Promise” Sweepstakes from now until November 13, 2012 to be entered in to the grand prize sweepstakes for a chance at a full ride to college – $150,000 for tuition and other college expenses. Um, yeah, what parent wouldn’t love to win this for their child! To enter make a pledge to save for college with an option to upload a photo of your future graduate.

In addition to the awesome sweepstakes grand prize, each week, Upromise is giving away $500 gift cards to online partners such as a Travelocity, Macy’s, and Walmart. Any of these gift cards would be awesome to win in time for the holidays.  Simply enter on the “Make the Pledge, Keep the Promise” Sweepstakes page.

I’ve been a member of Upromise since 2001 and members have received more than $700 million in cash for college. There are many ways to earn for college including eCoupons, shopping through the Upromise links, the Upromise credit card, eating out, buying gas, and many more!  Why not earn a little cash back for college by doing the things you were planning on doing anyway. You can then transfer your earnings in one of four ways, including transfer into a 529 college savings plan administered by Upromise Investments, pay down an eligible Sallie-Mae serviced student loan, deposit into a FDIC insured Sallie Mae High Yield Savings Account, or request a check.

To promote this sweepstakes, Upromise has given me a $50 Target gift card to giveaway to one lucky Bargain Briana Reader! It’s easy to enter via Rafflecopter below:

We already use Upromise – so easy! Other than that, whatever is left over from my paycheck goes into a savings account – only for school. My husbands paycheck goes into the house account for bills. I have a preset amount that gets direct deposited there too, then a preset amount formy checking account. The rest (sometimes just overtime or holiday pay) goes into that savings. Hopefully we won’t have to pull anything from there over the years!

I am setting aside as much money as I can now. I am planning on looking at some prepaid and that 529 plan. I am also going to let him live at home when he goes to college so if he does have to get student loans it won’t be to pay rent. I’m doing that now and it sucks. I don’t want him to be in the same boat as I am.
