SimpleOvernight French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 68 slices of bread (this is a great use for bread that is starting to get a little hard!)
  • 1 1/2 cup half & half
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • salt as desired
  • 34 tablespoons butter
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Spray 9″x11″ dish with cooking spray.
  2. Cut bread into 1/2 pieces and lay flat in the pan in one layer.
  3. Mix together the eggs, half & half, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a medium bowl.
  4. Pour mixture over bread so it well coated.
  5. Cover dish with saran wrap and press down on the saran wrap to soak the bread slices.
  6. Place dish in the refrigerator overnight.
  7. Next morning:
  8. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  9. Remove saran wrap from dish.
  10. Place several pats of butter on top of the bread.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes until bread is puffy.
  12. Top with maple syrup!
