Caring for your nails with essential oils is a safe and natural way to improve the look of your nails, strengthen them and keep them looking great. Nails and skin are permeable, meaning they absorb the oils that are applied to them, and this improves, not just the nails but also the skin and cuticles. Our hands and nails are one of the first things we and others notice because of the constant use they get, so taking care of them is not only important for their appearance, but also ensure that we do not have any pain or discomfort.
Natural Nail Care with Essential Oils
These are some of the essential oils that are safe to use on our nails, improve their condition and appearance, and can even be used to remove polish and other products often used.
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon essential oil is a great option for removing polish, colored or clear, from painted nails, giving you a clean nail bed to work with. If you have nails that have kept the residue from colored polishes, this oil will help with that, cleaning out the small pores in your nails that retain the coloring.
Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense has become a common ingredient once again, after decades of being remembered only as a gift given by the three wise men. The essential oil has the ability to strengthen brittle and weak nails, making it extremely useful. This oil can be applied directly to the nails daily, rubbed in and left alone to work its magic.
Myrrh Essential Oil
If you already read about Frankincense, you might be wondering what those wise men were on to. Myrrh happens to be one of the most commonly mentioned essential oils to use for nail care because of the many benefits it offers. It helps strengthen nails, heals damaged nail beds, improves cuticles and the skin around your nail bed and brightens their appearance. The only thing you need to be cautious of is over application, as this essential oil does have the ability to discolor your nails, so just one drop onto a cotton ball and rubbed into the nail two to three times a week is sufficient.
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil is a natural fungal killer, keeping fungus at bay and treating it when you do have a problem. It works well on nails too, preventing fungal infections that can go unchecked under the nail bed and around the cuticles. Add tea tree essential oil to a carrier oil and soak your fingers in the solution for a few minutes once a week to help prevent any nail fungus from starting and keep fungal infections that are already present from spreading. {Shop for Tea Tree Oil.}
