I’m so excited about this product! The Slow Cooker Mate will allow you to cook your entire meal in one crockpot.
A versatile crockpot, it has removable chambers so you can cook a one pot meal or a divided meal. For those of us who rely on our crockpot to cook dinner how wonderful to have the option of cooking your side dishes in the same crockpot.
When using the divided dish, the main chamber will cook an entree for 5-6 people. The upper divided chamber will cook two dishes. Other features include a built in timer, cool touch handles, and most interesting a built in control which will automatically put it on “warm” when cooking time is complete. (I don’t know how many times my current crockpot has cooked too fast and ruined our dinner!)
Time Saving because if you are like me sometimes when cooking a crockpot dinner, I still don’t have extra time to whip up the side dishes. Money Saving because the more you eat at the home, the more money you save from not dining out!
Best of all, I have one to give away to one of you! One lucky reader will win the Slow Cooker Mate (Value $99.)

i have read that slow cooker is great for cooking less expensive cuts of meat because the long cooking at low heat tenderizes the meat. so it is more practical to use the slow cooker when your budget only allows for meats that cost less.

My favorite crockpot recipe is one given to me by my good friend, Connie: “Everyday Crockpot Beans”
Place in a large (6-quart works) crockpot:
6 cups dry pinto beans, sorted
filtered water that is poured in to within 1 inch of the top edge of the crockpot
Place lid on crockpot & turn on “High” setting. Cook overnight.
In the morning, stir beans & turn to “Low” setting, adding a small amount of water if the water level is below the surface of the beans. Beans are now ready to season, or you may wait until lunchtime.
Season with: 2 Tablespoons chili powder
1 Tablespoon cumin
2 teaspoons sea salt (or to taste)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Do not add seasoning, especially salt, to the beans before they’re cooked, or they will be tough.

Add a packet of turkey or chicken gravy mix-it makes it just right and flavorful!

My crock pot is breaking – I’d LOVE a new one!!!
TIp: I set out meat to thaw as soon as I wake up in the AM, then when I’m working on lunch, I’ll throw dinner together, and sometimes even set the table, so at dinner time I don’t really have to do a thing! Of course, this doesn’t happen often, but when I’m prepared it is a huge time saver in the evenings.

We use our crockkpot every week for our after church meal. I make the food ahead of time on Saturday morning, put it in the crockpot and place it in the fridge. On Sunday morning all I have to do it take it out of the fridge, place it in the base and turn it on.! It works great!
Thanks for a GREAT giveaway! I’d love to try a crockpot that would do more than one thing at a time! :)

I love using my crockpot and it would be wonderful to be able to cook more than one thing at a time.
Here is my families new favorite recipe:
5 pounds country pork ribs (with or without bones)
2 bottles of your favorite bbq sauce (large)
Put the ribs and one bottle of sauce in the crockpot. Mix together and cook on low for 8 hours, stirring twice during that time. Remove meat and shred using two forks. Put liquid into a fat separator and pour the sauce without the fat back into the crockpot. Add the pork back in. Pour the other bottle of bbq sauce into the crockpot and keep on low for an hour.
Serve over rice or over whole wheat buns. Makes great leftovers too.

Hi, first of all, I love your blog. I just found it this week. Thank you for all you post and do on here, its awesome!! One amazingly easy thing I just discovered about the crock pot is you can put a FROZEN WHOLE chicken in there, put it on high for 6 – 8 hours…and it is PERFECT. You don’t have to put any liquid, or anything…you can just salt and pepper…maybe some onion, and put the whole frozen thing in there..and let it go. For a stockpiler…it doesn’t get any easier than that!! So load up on those whole chickens the next time they go on sale!! THanks Briana.

The best tip I can give is for any couple working opposite shifts. Put everything to cook early in the morning. I have an 8-5 work day, so I turn crock pot on low at 7ish. It cooks until DH wakes at 4 pm so he has a hot meal to eat. He turns it down to keep warm, so when I come home at 5:30/6ish I also have a hot meal to eat. Left overs will cover me for lunch the next day.

I love crock pots. I have never seen one like this. It looks wonderful! My favorite quick tip is to put in a whole chicken. Sprinkle it with lemon pepper and put it on low in the morning. It is so tender and good. Just like the precooked chickens you pick up at the store only much cheaper.

My favorite recipe for the slow cooker is pot roast. I usu brown a beef roast in olive oil, salt and pepper, then put into my greased slow cooker. I like to add flavor to my roast by adding sliced onions and leeks. After cooking on low all night (about 4 to 6 hours), I add carrots and cubed potatoes, and another 2 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. pepper, and cook on low an additional 2 to 3 hours. I sometimes substitute the potatoes with cauliflower. but do not add it until 1 hour before serving. I love this recipe, because it is a complete meal (minus dessert) in one pot!

I have three kids and the first thing they ask me when I come home from work is – WHATS FOR DINNER MOM! I love my slow cooker. I normally use mine overnight and all I have to do is heat up the dinner in the microwave when I get home. My kids love it when I put about 8 pieces of chicken breast in the slowcooker and add a jar of chunky salsa sauce. No need to add vegatables because they are already in there. After it’s done, I add cheddar cheese to it and we have it with mexican rice, and salad with sour cream and dressing. Sometimes we add tortilla chips also to the salad. Very quick and easy.

I love to use my crockpot, since I get up at 5 AM and don’t get home util 6 PM. It is a lifesaver. I am going to leave you one of my recipes that I use a lot when I have compay and got out of the Better Home Simply Slow Cooker cook book. This is the best slow cooker cook book I have gotten and most of our recipes come from here.
2 Med. apples
1 medium onion
6 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
1 16 oz. can of whole cranberry sace. (I use the jellied)
1/4 cup frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 tablespoons of quick-cooking tapioca
2 tabespoons of honey
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 6 oz packages of long grain rice and wild rice mix
In 3 1/2 or 4 quart slow cooker combine apples and onion. Add chicken pieces. In a med. bowl combine cranberry sauce, lemonade concentrate, tapioca, honey and salt. Pour over mixture in cooker.
Cover and cook on low heat setting for 6 to 7 hours or on high heat for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
If you use the rice packages, prepare them according to instructions and service chcken over top of the rice. I like to make mashed potatoes with this alot or put white rice in a rice cooker. My husband is filipino and he grew up on the white rice, so we use hat alot instead of the healthier stuff.
This is one of our favorites. Hope you like it too!!!!
Becky K.
The best recipe I know for a slow cooker is Coke roast. Add a roast to the slow cooker, pour a packet of onion soup mix over the roast and then add a can of coke. Cook for 4-6 hours until meat is done. The sweetness of the coke cooks off and leaves a very tasty sauce and a very tender roast.

Turn slow cooker on high to warm up – approx 20 mins.
Chop the vegetables and either saute them or chuck them in raw. Contrary to the natural laws of science where they say heat rises and you would put the vegetables to be cooked longer at the top, in this case you would put the harder vegetables at the bottom – ie onion and celery below say mushrooms and tomatoes which are softer.

Oh pick me! I’ve been wondering if these things work. My favorite recipe is really simple and for a traditional Hawaiian favorite, kalua pork: Score a 3 to 5 pound pork butt to form 1 inch squares on the top and bottom. Place in the crock and cover the top and bottom with 1/4 cup rock salt (if you have seasoned Hawaiian salt, even better). Cook on low for 8 to 12 hours. Shred and serve with sticky rice.

Our family LOVES the hot spiced cider:
2 tsp. whole cloves
1 orange, sliced
2 qt. apple cider (you can use apple juice)
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
Stud orange slices with cloves. Combine cider, sugar, and cinnamon sticks in slowcooker. Float orange slices on top. Cook on slow for 2 hours prior to serving, maintain low setting for up to 10 hours (it won’t last that long!).

In the spirit of the holiday (not to mention it really IS one of my favorites in the slow cooker), I’d have to say Corn beef and Cabbage! We love corn beef, and I love the slowcooker! Makes cooking dinner a breeze, especially with 3 little kiddos running around!

We have a lot of potlucks at church. You should see all the crockpots that show up! Favorite are chicken and noodles, roast beef stew, chili, and meat loaf. To have this one at church would be awesome. Most of the ladies don’t have certain recipes – just add whatever looks good!

This sounds like a wonderful slow cooker. My tip: A dear friend knows how much I love stuffed peppers. But they take so long too cook. She told me to try them in my crock pot and WOW! They are amazing in there. Plus they stand up perfectly. 4 in a smaller crock, 5-6 (depending on size) in a larger one. Just be sure to put enough sauce on the bottom and around them.

Almost everything has turned out very yummy…but since today is St. Patty’s day, and I always have corned beef on this day, I have corned beef in the crockpot right now…1 cup of water, 1 Tablespoon of vinegar, and the corned beef-my mom’s tried and true recipe-can’t get any easier than that!

My favorite crockpot recipe is also one of the easiest ones–you just take a pork shoulder roast (often called a picnic roast), and put it in the crockpot. Top it with 1 cup brown sugar, and 1 cup salsa. Let it cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4. Shred your roast, and then put it back in all the juices for the best sweet pulled pork you’ve ever eaten.

I cook my pork tenderloins in my crock pot. I put a frozen tenderloin and a can of chicken broth in the crock pot on low. I add any seasonings, normally just some season all pepper and sea salt. Cook about 8 hours, and you have some great tender pork. Normally it shreds like BBQ.

I love the slow cooker.
Our favorite is to cook a nice big roast
Season with salt,pepper,garlic
Add some coarsely chopped onions for flavor
Add Quartered Potatoes skin on (carrots)
a little beef broth (not too much)
cook 8-10hrs low
Nice meat and potatoes dinner THEN….
Shred the leftover meat add some juice before refrigerating
the next day…….Make a Taquito dinner or snack
Warm shredded meat in micro
place a stack of corn tortillas in between 2 wet paper towls
warm in micro about 40-45 sec (until soft )
Heat veg oil for frying
roll up shredded meat in tortillas
fry in oil until golden brown
season with salt drain oil on paper towel
Serve with sour cream,guacamole
Rice and/or beans on the side if serving for dinner
I always make a HUGE roast then I can freeze portionns for a quick dinner or snack

Our favorite recipe is Pot Roast. I place a sliced onion in the bottom. Then add a nice sized pot roast and cover with water. I let it cook all day on low. Very cool SlowCooker…when making fajitas, just throw a few chicken breasts and some fajita sauce in the crock pot in the morning. When your ready to start dinner, the chicken will shred easily & taste great. Just brown your soft tortillas in butter and taco seasoning, throw on some chicken, soft cheddar & deli salsa and your in business.

With a family of 6, what recipe isn’t my favorite in my slowcooker?!!?
I tried a new one yesterday. I love to find pork shoulders clearanced for less than $1.00/lb, and I did at my local Kroger affiliate. I rubbed it with a Dona Maria Mole Sauce, which I have only used with chicken. I turned out FABULOUS. With the chicken, sometimes it can be a little too spicy for my little ones. This has a great flavor, but not much heat. We made tacos last night, and will be having at least two more meals later in the week.
Give it a try :)

My husband makes the best pulled pork in the slow cooker. He just puts some rub on a butt (ooh, sounds dirty) adds onions and a tad bit of water. Leave it cooking on low for about 6-8 hours then turns it up to high for a couple of more hours letting it cook in its own juice. The results are so delicious and sweet.

Here’s my recipe:
CHICKEN IN A POT
2 carrots, sliced (I use more)
2 onions, sliced
2 stalks celery, cut into 1-inch pieces (I use more)
Several quarted potatoes if you have room
1 whole broiler/fryer chicken, 3-4 lbs. (I’ve also used chicken breasts or chicken legs, which is good for smaller crockpots, or if you want more veggies)
1 t. salt
1/2 t. black pepper
1/2 c. water or chicken broth
1/2 t. dried basil
Put carrots, onions, celery, and potatoes in bottom of crockpot. Add whole chicken/chicken breasts. (I usually place some of the veggies around the chicken) Top with salt, pepper, and liquid. Sprinkle basil over top. Cover and cook on LOW 10 hours (or HIGH 6 hours using 1 c. water).

My favorite crockpot “recipe”:
Toss a fairly large beef roast in the crockpot. Surround with chunks of potato, carrots, and several onions cut in chunks. Sprinkle in a package of dry onion soup; fill the crockpot almost to the top with water. Cook on low setting most of the day until roast is done. Serve to great acclaim from your family! Save the broth, chill it, skim the fat off and you have the base for a wonderful home-made soup with any left-overs you might have! (It is 5:25 AM as I write this and just typing the recipe is making me hungry!)

BBQ Country Ribs
1 1/2 cups prepared hickory-flavored bbq sauce
1/2 cup apricot-pineapple jam
4 lbs country style pork spareribs, trimmed of fat
In a medium bowl, mix together 3/4 cup bbq sauce and jam until well blended. Place a layer of the ribs in a 4 quart crock pot.
Pour on 1/3 of the sauce mixture.Top with another layer of ribs and half
the remaining sauce. Top with the remaining ribs and sauce. Cover and
cook on low heat 9 hours or until the ribs are tender but not
completely falling apart. Remove the ribs to a serving dish. Skim off and
discard any fat from the sauce in the slow cooker. Stir in the remaining
3/4 cup bbq sauce then spoon over the ribs.

My tip: Fill the bottom of your crockpot with chopped carrots, celery, onion, garlic, salt and pepper, and a bay leaf. Top with any bone-in chicken that you can find on sale. Add a bit of beer or water. Cook on low overnight or during the day. At dinner time, the chicken will slide right off the bone and be super tender. Slide broth, deboned chicken and veggies into a stock pot. Add egg noodles or dumplings, for a no-work, delicious dinner.
Thanks,
Lisa

My favorite slow cooker tip is one to use at the very start of preparation – spray the inside of the crock with non-stick spray for easy cleanup.

i love my crockpot and use it quite a bit especially for spagehetti sauces and chili.
make sure you brown ground beef before putting it in crockpot. the texture comes
out much better and there is not as much grease to deal with, and most crock manufactures recommend it. When i do make chili, and want it low fat i just make it all the day before and put the crock in the fridge so the excess fat is on the top the next day and i can remove it.

Hi,
My tip- if you don’t have a programmable crock pot and would like to wait to cook your food, you can use an inexpensive Christmas Tree light timer to set your Crock to start cooking later in the day.
Happy Cooking!

Great give-away! My tip is that noodles can get pretty soggy after sitting for 8 hours in a crockpot so it’s best to add them near the end of your cooking time.

I love to make Italian chicken!
4 potatoes, diced
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup extra spicy Italian salad dressing
1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions:
Place the potatoes on the bottom of the crockpot, then drizzle with half of the dressing. Top with the chicken, and drizzle with remaining dressing and pepper. Cover crockpot and cook for 6-8 hours on low until potatoes are tender and chicken is thoroughly cooked.
Yummy!

My favorite slow cooker tip is to use it to help you rise bread – which you can also bake in the slow cooker. Put it on the low setting and the bread rises in about half the time – but you have to watch it carefully, because it can over-rise.

In college we used to throw frozen chicken breasts, cream of chicken soup, a little water, and one of those pesto packets or creamy pesto packets in to a crock pot and let it cook all day. It was a great way to come home from midterms and enjoy a meal as friends and relax when life was getting a little stressful. Sometimes we’d throw rice, broccoli, and various other vegetables into the sauce as well, but that was only if we had them on hand for whatever reason.

My favorite recipe is for chili:
2 lbs hamburger meat
1 large onion, diced or chopped
1-2 TBS veg oil
2 cloves garlic minced
1 can kidney beans (could add 2 if you like beans); drained and rinsed
2 can diced tomato
1 can tomato sauce
2 envelopes chili seasoning such as McCormick’s
(I like to use one regular and one spicy — that’s the right level for our family)
1) brown the hamburger meat, drain and add to crock pot
2) sautee onion in veg oil until translucent
3) add minced garlic at the very end, sautee 30 seconds; add onion and garlic to crockpot
4) dump in everything else (cans of beans, sauce, etc.)
5) stir well
6) cook on low for 6-8 hrs of high for 4-5
Even if it doesn’t look very “saucy” at first, do not add more liquid. The tomatoes and everything will cook down over time.
Serve with sour cream, shredded cheese, saltines, etc. Whatever your family likes. We like cornbread.

My favorite tip is to try to brown the meat before adding it to the crockpot especially for things like stew, chili); don’t just throw everything in raw. Use a bit of flour on the b eef you are browning and it will ultimately thicken the stew. Also, sauteeing the onions and/or garlic first imprives the flavor of the finished dish.

Hot Fudge Crockpot Cake
3 c. skim milk
1 box sugar free cook and serve chocolate pudding
1 box Super Moist chocolate fudge cake mix
1 1/3 c. water
1/2 c. applesauce
6 egg whites
Spray a crockpot container with nonfat cooking spray. Whisk skim milk with dry pudding mix in crockpot until dissolved. In a medium bowl, mix dry cake mix, water, applesauce and egg whites with whisk for two minutes until blended. Very gently pour cake mixture over pudding mixture. DO NOT MIX! Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 hours. Serve hot
Sarah
How fun! My favorite thing to do with crock pots is to take a whole chicken, add some all purpose seasoning, cover it with water, and cook on low for 8 hours. When it finishes, the chicken will be super moist and tender and you’ll have tons of meat and chicken stock to use for other recipes. One great way to get the most fat off your homemade chicken stock is to refridgerate it for several hours. The “bad fat” will rise to the top, creating a white layer, and is easily scrapped off.

Would love to have the divided crock! I have a pot roast at home in my slow cooker right now.
Here is my (not really) recipe.
3-4 potatos cut into chunks
1 3-4 lb. pot roast
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/4 c. water
Layer potatos in bottom (can add onions and carrots too, but my family won’t touch them, so why waste it–lol). Sprinkle a little onion soup on potatos. Put pot roast on top. Sprinkle with remainder of onion soup. Mix cream of mushroom with water and pour over all. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
