Tips for Shopping Safely on Black Friday

If you are an avid Black Friday shopper, nothing can stop you from heading out and finding the deals! You want to be sure though that in all of your shopping fun, you still remember to be safe. Take a look below at 7 tips for shopping safely on Black Friday. By taking the proper precautions, you can be sure you find the great deals and stay safe at the same time. Here is how you can protect yourself.

7 Tips for Shopping Safely on Black Friday

1. Wear your purse close to you.
Don’t just tuck a wallet in your pocket or hang a purse over your shoulder. Instead, wear a bag or purse that crosses over your chest and can be held in front of you. This way, your money, ID, and other valuables stay attached to you and in sight.

2. Shop with a friend.
It is best to shop with a buddy on Black Friday. This way you can keep an eye on each other and each other’s belongings. Since you will be shopping early in the morning while it is still dark, it is best to have another person with you for safety and to deter others who may wish to cause harm.

3. Carry a charged cell phone.
Make sure you phone is well charged prior to shopping. This way, you can easily call for help if you need, cancel a credit card if one turns up missing or your purse is stolen, or even just to check in with a spouse. In an emergency, your cell phone will be a life line.

4. Guard your personal information.
Identity theft is a rising concern. Be sure to guard your personal information as much as possible. You may even wish to shop with a prepaid debit card on Black Friday to avoid issues with credit card breaches that so many stores seem to be having.

5. Don’t leave purchases out in plain view.
Store your purchases in your trunk as they will be harder to access by crooks. Don’t leave any purchases out in plain view. You can even stop home and drop purchases off if possible. This is especially advisable if you purchase large electronics.

6. Save all receipts.
This is wise not only because it allows for easier returns, but it can remind you where you bought items from. If there is a security breach in the future, you will remember what you purchased and if your card may have been compromised.

7. Enlist those hired to help you.
Most stores have security on hand for Black Friday. If anything seems suspicious, or you have any issues, notify security at once.

Black Friday is a great time to shop for deals. Keep these safety tips in mind and it can not only be a productive trip, but a safe one.
