While we are decluttering our homes you may be wondering what you do with all this unused stuff? Isn’t amazing how much junk we can collect over the years?!? First let’s try and make a few extra bucks!
We all love extra money, right?!? Try listing your items online. You can utilize free websites like Craigslist.org, BooKoo.com and you may even want to try list in your local Facebook groups. Just simply search Facebook with your closest city or county name. You may also wanna ask your friends what For Sale Groups they are in. You’ll be surprised how many there are!
When listing your items online be sure to have a detailed description of the item you are selling. If you have a lot of children’s clothes consider grouping the sizes together and selling them as a group. This will get rid of these pieces a lot quicker than selling individually!
Be sure not to list much personal information on these sites as there are often scammers galore. Hint: spell out part of your telephone number (812) two 9 four….you get the idea!
We all tend to have LOTS of kids clothes for some reason. Sign up for a FREE account at ThredUp.com and start making money the easy way. ThredUp.com is a wonderful site that pretty much takes care of the workload. You simply send them your freshly laundered kids clothes that are in great condition. Then once they process the clothes you’ll be mailed a check!
If you have a few days to spare host a Garage Sale. Ask other family members, friends and neighbors if they have anything they’d like to bring over to potentially sell. Make sure the prices are clearly labeled and priced to go! Afterall, you are de-cluttering and making way for a simpiler lifestyle. Get the kids invovled by hosting a Lemonade Stand and giving proceeds to a charity of their choosing. Tip: Set up your sale as if it were a store for your customers to make finding items easier!
Another great way to clear the clutter is to swap it! Now that you are making space by de-cluttering get your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers together. Maybe you need to get rid of a dresser and looking for a mirror…in the instance your neighbor has a mirror they are looking to get rid of see if they can utilize the dresser! Be sure to make it simple and send a email to those who may be interested! At worse case scenario a loved one needs it and you can simply give it to them!
Perhaps you don’t have the time to list items on the internet, hold a garage sale or just don’t wanna mess with it! Let friends and family know you are going to be getting rid of things. More times than not they will know someone in need who can use items that you have.
There are also plenty of places in your town that would be more than happy to accept your donations. Let Google be your friend and consider giving to Battered Women’s Shelters, Food Pantries (they are often collecting not only food, but, clothing, housewares, etc.) and Orphanages in your area. These non-profits are always looking for baby and kids items and household items.
You may also want to check with your place of Worship to see if they have a partnership with a local non-profit or are hosting a donation drive anytime soon. In addition, there’s always Goodwill and Salvation Army type stores. You may even be able to call and have them pick your haul up!
If you have nice dress clothes a woman can wear to the workplace check your area for a Dress for Success location. These folks do great things getting women back into the work force! It’s always great to give to those in need and who will truly appreciate your donation!
