Most people consider Valentine’s Day to be a special day for couples, but even if you’re not part of a couple, you can celebrate the day. In essence, Valentine’s Day celebrates love — and not just romantic love. Here are a few ideas for how you can celebrate and enjoy Valentine’s Day all on your own.
Plan to Do a Favorite Activity
Plan a favorite activity for your solitary Valentine’s Day celebration. Choose something that you really enjoy but rarely allow time for. It could be a trip to a local museum, a visit to a local arcade, taking in a movie you’ve been wanting to see, or a day hitting antique shops or book stores. You may want to make it a day and do several of these activities on your own for some Valentine’s Day fun.
Pamper Yourself
Turn the holiday into a day to pamper yourself a little. Schedule a day at the spa for a manicure or pedicure, make an appointment to get your hair done, make a stop at a higher end department store makeup department for a makeover. You can also do all of these things for yourself at home and be sure to include a nice, hot bubble bath. {Check out these posts for DIY Home Spa Treatments: Peppermint Sugar Scrub, Sugar Cookie Scrub, Coffee Sugar Scrub, Lavender Body Butter, and Make a Simple Sugar Scrub.}
Go on a Date With Yourself
Who says you have to go out with someone else to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Plan a special date night all on your own. Make a reservation for one at a local restaurant you’ve been wanting to try or perhaps your favorite establishment. Dress up in your finest duds and treat yourself to a date — with you! Enjoy some fine dining and a stroll and perhaps a concert or a movie you’ve been wanting to catch. Enjoy your time on your own and celebrate Valentine’s Day with yourself.
Enjoy a Night at Home
Who says you have to go out and about on the town to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Plan a great night indoors at home all by yourself. Plan your favorite meal or order your favorite carryout. Rent a movie or two you’ve been wanting to watch (or rent a season of a favorite television series to have a marathon watch night), pop some popcorn and grab a few favorite snacks then enjoy your night at home.
Combine your night at home with some pampering (a hot shower or bath, painting your nails, experimenting with your makeup, working on a favorite hobby) and you’ve got a winner!
Catch Up With Long-Distance Loved Ones
If you will be spending Valentine’s Day alone, celebrate by catching up with long-distance loved ones. Dedicate Valentine’s Day to re-connecting with the people you care about. Make a list of people you want to get in touch with then work through the list on Valentine’s Day. Since Valentine’s Day is about love, what better way to spend it than reaching out and touching the people you love but don’t see often?
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about couples and romance. Celebrate on your own with one or more of these ideas and enjoy!
