It’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Verizon is sharing the message of hope through Hopeline. Hopeline is a organization that turns no longer used cell phones into support for domestic violence victims and survivors. Phones and technology can be serve as an important link in case of emergency or as a safe connection to family, friends, employers as survivors rebuild their lives.
Through the month of October when you enter a photo in the Verizon Cover Photo Contest for the theme “Hope”, Verizon will donate $1 to the National Dating Abuse Helpline – up to $10,000. Your photo could also be featured as the cover photo of Verizon Wireless’ Facebook page, win a Android Tablet, or win an all expense paid trip for two to Yellowstone National Park.
If you would like to donate your old phone, it is suggested you confirm disconnection of your service, wipe it clean, and use one of these pre-paid mailing labels here. You never know how important your donation could be until you actually hear the stories from the survivors. Hopeline also has a Hopeline app which will help you locate your nearest drop off center if you would prefer to donate your phone in that manner.
