I will admit I once had the misconception that Goodwill was a place that sells low cost goods to those who had very low income. I will be the first to admit that I was completely wrong! Goodwill’s mission is to put disabled and disadvantaged workers in a job and the sales they generate help support their mission. The items in Goodwill might normally be thrown away but because of Goodwill these items are used to help teach jobs skills and allow you to score a deal along the way. From furniture, clothing to toys you can find a little bit of everything at Goodwill. If you love finding deals and making money Goodwill is the perfect place to shop. Often times you can find items that are valuable which means you can purchase it and resell it for a profit.
Shopping and donating to Goodwill is becoming more and more popular these days so next time you find yourself browsing for the deals keep your eyes peeled for these items that have the most value.
Goodwill Finds You Can Flip For Profit
Books: Books are one of the most donated items. Be on the lookout for popular titles from best selling authors, textbooks and classics. Compare these prices to prices you might find on Ebay or Amazon to see if it’s worth picking up to resell. Also be sure to open them, if they are signed with the author’s signature they are worth even more.
High End Clothing: High-end clothing is a big seller on resell sites. Goodwill typically has these high-end brands priced at the same price of all clothing, normally around $3.99. Be sure there are not major signs or wear such as rips or stains that won’t come out. Also keep an eye out for brand new clothing with the tags still attached.
Shoes and Handbags: Keep an eye out in the shoe department for large size shoes. These are very hard to find and expensive to purchase new so these are a great item to purchase and resell. Take them home, shine them up with a little leather conditioner or shoe polish and you should be able to flip them for a nice profit. Also keep an eye out for designer handbags in good condition.
Broken Electronics: Most people assume because their electronics are broke it’s completely worthless, however this is not the case. There are always people looking to purchase broken electronics for parts so you can pick these up and flip them for a nice profit. Broken laptops, kindles and Apple products will always sell. You can find broken laptops selling upwards of $150 on eBay!
Pyrex Dishes: Pyrex has a huge following and these dishes sell like hotcakes on the vintage market. List these on Etsy by the piece or set to get the most profit.
Maternity Clothes: Maternity clothes are not worn for long, which means they are normally in really good condition when you find them. Because they are not worn for long women don’t want to pay full price so they are a good find to purchase for resell.
Have you ever flipped items you purchased at Goodwill for profit? If so I would love to hear about it.

My most successful thrift store flips have been never worn Dansko sandals, Bingo cards (they had the red slide over the top of the numbers), Discovery Toys Marble works, and a stuffed talking Alf doll. Those things made me the most money. Some clothes sell well, but ebay isn’t what it used to be for clothes.

My best find was a very dirty Coach bag. I got it on a half price day for $3. cleaned it and resold it for $40.
