NOW CLOSED: $50 Carrabba’s Italian Grill GC & 2 Free Mini Desserts

December 17, 2008 by Briana Carter

carrabba-logo

The Carrabba’s Italian Grill near us is ALWAYS busy and it looked so fancy, we were scared to take our wild children in with us. However, one Sunday morning this past winter before shopping we were in the area and decided to go ahead and try it even with the kids. We were so impressed with how warmth and the friendliest of the staff. Not sure if this is standard practice, but our server brought out dough for the kids to play with…it kept them entertained like play dough! For readers with kids, Carrabba’s offers a Bambino Menu which includes Pizza, Spaghetti, Ravioli, Chicken Breast, and Chicken Fingers priced around $5 per meal.

Carrabba’s serves cuisine based on traditional Sicilian fare with bold flavors inspired by Creole & Southern flavorings picked up by their family stepping off the boat in Louisana on their trek to Galveston, Texas. Their recipes have been passed down for four generations. Sign up for Carrabba’s Amici (friend) Club to receive recipes, cooking tips, special offers, and invites to Amici Club events.

mini-dessert-smallCarrabba’s is also introducing a new line of mini-desserts. They are smaller versions of Carrabba’s most popular desserts – Dessert Rosa, Tiramisu, Cannoli, as well as nightly specials such as Zabaglione, Chocolate Mousse, and Chocolate Espresso Mousse. My mouth is watering right now, is yours?! I love the idea of smaller portions of the best desserts are a great idea. We usually shy away from the desserts when we eat out because the portions are so huge even if you share with a friend. And these little guys are so cute – check them out to the left.

Gift Card Promotion: Reward yourself while giving to others. Purchase $100 in Carrabba’s gift cards from November 1 through December 31, 2008 and receive a complimentary $20 Bonus Card. Note: Shipping is charged on purchases under $250. Or you can just win my $50 Gift Card Giveaway & (2) Free Mini Desserts. Scroll down to see how to enter.

Here’s a Special YUMMY Freebie for everyone to enjoy at home:

Carrabba’s Mini Cannoli Recipe (If you are unfamiliar with a Cannoli check out wiki. This recipe actually looks like a doable one for me.)
1½ cups            ricotta cheese
½ cup               powdered sugar
½ teaspoon       vanilla
¼ teaspoon       cinnamon
½ cup               mini choc chips
1 cup                Mascarpone cheese

Mix ricotta cheese and powdered sugar in a mixer with a wire whip until smooth (5 minutes). Stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula.  Add vanilla, cinnamon, and chocolate chips.  Mix on low speed until blended.Stop the mixer and add the mascarpone.  Mix by hand with a wire whip until blended. Place mix into a piping bag to serve.

To serve mini cannoli:
Pipe cannoli mix into a tall shot glass about halfway full.
Layer a tablespoon of crumbled cannoli shells.
Pipe cannoli mix to the top of the glass.
Top the mix with a teaspoon of chopped pistachios.

We love Carrabba’s, but have not been there in a long time…ever since our son was a baby and he’s 4 now. LOL! This would be great! I would definitely order the sirloin marsala and my hubby would most likely get the chicken marsala. :) I would have the chocolate dream for dessert and I know hubby would want John Cole! :)

Carrabba’s is easily the best italian chain out there. In addition, it’s the best Italian you can get in Greensboro for anything approaching a reasonable price.

Our order changes every time we’re there, because they often have seasonal specials that are awesome (occasionally, they have fresh tomatoes with fresh mozarella and that is AWESOME). If there’s nothing seasonal that tempts, we pick up the Calamari, which is always tender, flavorful and delicious. I often get the Mezzaluna, but occasionally pick up another pasta dish. My husband almost always has some form of stuffed chicken.

The one beef I have with Carrabba’s is – oddly enough – their new desserts. Last time I was there, I wanted a Tiramisu for the table to share, and was offered instead the little layered dessert. Tiramisu is an ART! I’m sad that they’ve gone with the quickie variety and hope the old version comes back.

We would like a glass of merlot and iced tea to start. We will take as much bread and olive oil as you’ll give us. They have the best seasonings. We’ll order sirloin marsala, medium rare, garlic mashed potatoes, salad with creamy parmesan house dressing. We’ll also have an order of Pasta Carrabba. We’ll be too full for dessert, but if it’s free, anything with cheesecake, chocolate, or both will be wonderful!

We’d start off with a house salad, then a margherita pizza. It doesn’t list the mini dessert options, it says to ask the server, so something chocolatey would be nice. If we just get salads and a pizza, there’s enough left over to basically go back and get the same thing again. Thanks for the chance! mmm!

Can you believe we have a carrabbas in our town and we have never ate there. I always thought it to be out of our budget but it looks like it would be a reasonable price and with a prize like this our family of 4 could finally try a nice food dish. My 12 year old would choose the calamari as he loves seafood. Sirloin Marsala for myself, for my husnand Pollo Rosa Maria and my 16 year old daughter Chicken Parmesan. Ok now that my mouth is watering and I’m starving send the card my way please.

Carrabba’s traditional Italian minestrone takes a FULL day of preparation! There are 24 different fresh ingredients. This soup is served the day after it is made so the flavors have had time to meld.
Gosh! I can just taste it now.

I’d love to win this to take my wife out to dinner because with a 7 mo. old it’s crazy hard to have a nice night out. We’d probably order: Bruschette to start, then Chicken Bryan for her and Chicken Parm for me and end it all with Tiramasu.

    thanks

Carrabbas is the FIRST place my husband wanted to go when he came home from Iraq. I know he’d go for his usual yummy lasagne after having the mozarella marinara as an appetizer. I love to try something new each time I visit, so I’d try the Veal Picatta. We both love chocolate, so the Chocolate Dream would be a perfect ending to a most delicious meal!
