I am an email subscriber.  If it's not too late I'd like to enter the drawing for the Toshiba external hard drive.  I have lost pictures several years ago when my computer would not even start up.  I was devastated.  Most pictures were of my newborn grandson.

When we got our first digital camera we had so much fun taking pictures of ourselves, our pets, our home…everything. They were all there on the computer. The computer crashed. All gone. Now we seem to never take pictures anymore – perhaps because of this loss, I don’t know.

I have lost years worth of photos and documents. I had my hard drive crash and the techs could not get it to do anything at all. I still have the hard drive in a ziplock bag hoping one day I will be able to afford the more than $600.00 it would take to try to retrieve what is on there. But even for that price, there are no guarantees they would be able to get anything off of it. Backing up is SO important and I learned that the hard way.

Our computer crashed about 6 months ago. We felt lucky that all our photos were stored on an external harddrive, until that crashed a week later. While we were able to retrieve about 80% of the images with the help of a techy friend, I find everyday that there is some picture or song that I no longer have. It’s devasting. I’d love to have a back-up for my back-up, since it’s obvious that everything can go wrong in one fell swoop.

I am an avid genealogist. I keep copies of all old pictures of my ancestors, a huge file of my family tree, and of course of current pictures of my kids and family. The day I lost my hard drive, I was devastated! No only years of research, but tons of money and memories down the drain!

Ever since getting a Canon digital camera for Christmas last year, I have been super paranoid about losing my pics to a computer crash. About two years ago, my work laptop crashed — and I lost EVERYTHING that I had created and researched during 4 years of hard work! Thanks so much for this giveaway!

I wrote my grown son a story that he could share with his children, about our “Charlie Brown” tree. I was a single parent at the time with not much money for Christmas. I wrote it on the computer, and lost it when my hard drive crashed. Also about 2 yrs of pictures. It is heart breaking to have the memories taken from you in that manner.

About two years ago my computer crashed and we had to have windows reinstalled which meant I lost everything I had. All of my documents and pictures were gone. I kept saying I need to get an external hard drive but yet haven’t, so this year my husband said I should really get you one of those for Christmas; however this year we just don’t have the extra money for it. I lost my job in January and trying to live on one income has been difficult. Just yesterday our main computer crashed again…I’m not sure yet if we are going to be able to salvage anything. You can imagine how I wished that I would have purchased the external hard drive a long time ago.

My parents both passed away and I now have all of their family photo albums. I’m in the process of scanning them all so that I can share them with my sister in Europe and my son in Virginia (and also to preserve them before they deteriorate any further or anything happens to them!) A way to back them up would be a godsend. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

I had to buy a new laptop (which was definately not part of the budget) a month ago because my cat knocked over an entire drink on my laptop…

I lost my engagement photos plus over 2 years of photos on my computer. I also lost all the songs I had downloaded (and paid for) on iTunes… which was at least 200. I also lost my resume, papers I had written for school, my budget Excel sheet, tax info, etc. I am an aspiring writer and I started writing a novel and I didn’t have ANY of it backed up. 75 pages… gone. Lesson learned. Back everything up! And keep liquids and cats away from your laptop.

I have lost information from a crashed computer. When my son was about a year old, my laptop died and was not resurrected. I lost every.single.picture on there. Now, I have pictures, video, and school work on my computer I would like to back up.
    Thanks!

I have my son’s first and second year full of pictures that I would love to protect along with tons of music. I’m a freelance graphic artist, so I have some rather large art files.

I once lost a whole year’s worth of pictures in a computer crash…ugh!
