I spend a lot of time in the kitchen making meals, prepping, cleaning up,etc…We love our food well seasoned, but it is kind of pain to reach for (and store for quick access) 5,6, or more seasoning jars every single time I cook. So I decided that I needed to create a good basic seasoning mix using the most often reached for spices and seasonings-all the flavors we love in one handy little jar without the additives and sodium that store bought would contain. After a few experiments with amounts and variations I came up with this all purpose seasoning mix that I use to season up meat, soups, stews, pasta dishes, and more. Mix up a batch and see if the 5 minutes it takes to make it doesn’t make dinner time a bit easier and create less of a mess.
Ingredients:
- 4 Tbsp. Sea salt
- 2 Tbp. Black pepper
- 4 Tbsp. Paprika
- 1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp. Onion Powder
- 2 Tbsp. Cayenne Pepper
- 2 tsp. Dry Mustard Powder
- 2 tsp. Red pepper flakes
Directions:
Use a whisk to stir all ingredients together in a small bowl until everything is incorporated completely. A whisk is my favorite kitchen tool for tasks like this, it really blends it well.
Transfer to a container with a lid to store. I found this cute little jar at my local dollar store. You can also find these online at Amazon or at places like Hobby Lobby or other craft stores.
Stir into recipes during cooking, use as a flavorful rub, or sprinkle over veggies, pork, chicken, beef, fish or starches for a wonderful full flavor that enhances whatever it is added to.

That seems like a lot of cayenne. Should that be teaspoons, not tablespoons?

What would you say the spice level is for this?

I use all purpose seasoning mix all the time and go through it like water. My husband uses it as well. I’m definitely going to use this recipe!
