Organizing Your Family Calendar | {52 Weeks to a More Organized Home/Life}

Organizing Your Family Calendar

During the school year, many a parent feels like they are stretched too far. Organizing Your Family Calendar can make a world of difference in how you are able to juggle work, school activities and parties during the busy holiday seasons. With a few simple organization tips, some cooperation from your family and determination you can make the school year a smooth organized part of your life.

Organizing Your Family Calendar

Make A Master Calendar: Whether you use an old school wall calendar, a great chalkboard decal calendar or a dry erase board it is important to make a master calendar everyone has access to. You can even print blank weekly or monthly calendars out to pin to the wall if you prefer. The important part is making a calendar that everyone has access to and can add items to as needed.

Color Code Each Family Member: This makes things a lot easier to spot. No matter what calendar you use, having a color of ink or marker for each family member will make things much easier to manage.

Sync Calendars On Devices: In this modern age of smart phones, tablets and devices owned by every family member, it is reasonable to suggest everyone can sync their calendars. If you all have access to Google Drive it is very easy to sync calendars.

Have A Family Meeting: This is the tough part. Some times you simply have to let your kids know that Mom and Dad won’t be able to make it to every event. When you have multiple children involved in multiple after school activities they will occasionally coincide. If this is the case, talk to your kids and let them know you will rotate equally as needed so their needs can be met while you still take care of everything necessary to run your family.

Getting your home organized this year includes keeping your schedules organized. That means that organizing your family calendar is a must on your list. Whether it is a simple printed calendar, or synced across devices these tips will help you and your family keep not only your belongings decluttered, but your daily schedules organized as well.
