Organizing Your Laundry Room | {52 Weeks to a More Organized Home/Life}

Organizing the Laundry Room

Every mom will tackle a mountain of laundry at one point or another. Organizing Your Laundry Room becomes ever so important when you are going through dozens of loads of laundry each month. Having everything easy to access makes a ton of difference when you are working hard to keep your laundry done.

Organizing Your Laundry Room

One Laundry Basket Per Family Member: One of the best ways to organize your laundry room is to start by assigning a laundry basket to each family member. Buy different colored ones, or label with their names so everyone knows what basket belongs to whom. Set these up so that laundry coming out of the dryer can easily be put into the owners basket. Use your sorting and folding station to slide these baskets under if possible.

Hang Brooms & Mops: Laundry room often becomes the place where things like mops,brooms and other cleaning tools are stored. Use a simple wall hanging system to keep these out of the way, yet still handy.

Keep Laundry Products Handy: Whether you have a cabinet above your washer and dryer, invest in a small shelf to go above them, or simply keep them on top of the washer or dryer they need to be handy. Laundry detergent, fabric softener and stain remover should always be handy for doing laundry.

Create A Sorting & Folding Station: This is the one thing that really makes a difference in laundry organization. If possible create a sorting and folding station in your laundry room. This can be a simple table set up on one wall, or even using an ironing board against a wall to make a place to sort and fold laundry as it comes out of the dryer.

Keep Hangers Handy: Make sure to have some empty hangers in your laundry room at all times for those items that need to be kept wrinkle free. For best results, hang as soon as they finish drying. Keep your starch and ironing board on hand for the items who need a bit of a touch up.

Keeping your laundry room organized will help ease one of the biggest burdens you have in your home. A few simple things like keeping your supplies handy, sorting directly into your family members assigned basket and even folding as they come out of the dryer can be very effective in organizing our laundry room.
