Organizing Your Linen Closet {52 Weeks to a More Organized Home/Life}

March 24, 2015 by Briana Carter

Organizing Your Linen Closet

Have you ever opened your linen closet to look for sheets and had blankets come tumbling down at you? I know I have but Organizing Your Linen Closet is easy to do and can save you tons of time and frustration later on. A few simple measures will make your linen closet a place you are excited to go, instead of dreading to open.

Organizing Your Linen Closet

Sort By Season: From sheets to blankets you will have various seasons to sort through. Separate and sort light weight, medium and heavy. Depending on season, rotate the off season items to your top shelves. Keep current season items at sight level, and medium weight for transitional weather at the bottom.

Purge Mismatched Sets Or Items With Holes: We all want to keep those random sheets and pillowcases that don’t go with each other, but if your linen closet is over flowing it may be time to simply purge those items. Toss them into your craft or sewing bin to use for fun projects, or donate to those who need them. Items with holes should be tossed or used as scrap material for other projects.

Store Sheet Sets Inside Pillow Cases: One of the easiest ways to keep pillowcases and sheets together is to fold them up and store them all together in one of the pillowcases. This makes it easier to store, and easier to find what you are looking for.

Store Towels & Wash Cloths In Bathrooms Instead: One of the biggest space wasters in linen closets is often the storage of towels and wash cloths there. Instead invest in a simple storage cabinet or shelf in each bathroom. This will keep things where they need to be handy without using up space in your linen closet needlessly.

No matter what you have stored in your linen closet, a good clean up can help keep your home running smoothly. Organizing your linen closet is a simple task that takes just a few hours of your time and can easily streamline your time spent putting linens away, or swapping out sheets on a weekly basis.
