{CLOSED} Win It: Hershey’s S’mores Kit

June 23, 2010 By: Briana Carter199 Comments

IMG_0865

On Saturday, June 26, 2010, thousands of families will gather together to participate in the National Wildlife Federation’s 6th Annual Great American Backyard Campout. This annual event encourages kids to step away from modern technology and enjoy a evening in the backyard or a local campground for a evening of activities, games, campfire songs, and of course campfire food!

The Hershey Company is partnering with the National Wildlife Federation to help make this even sweeter with a favorite campfire treat – Hershey S’mores.  A campfire is not complete without the gooey marshallow and melted chocolate deliciousness. This is one food that is just as much fun to make as it is to eat.

You don’t have to have a traditional campfire to enjoy Hershey S’mores, though it does make it more fun for the pyros in your family. Microwave, grill, or fire up the campfire, they will be gone before you can blink!

This past weekend, the boys with supervision of daddy, started a nice fire in our fire pit and we had a blast making Hershey S’mores with the kit that was sent to use by Hershey. They’ve offered one Bargain Briana reader the same kit so you can enjoy Hershey S’mores too!

On the Grill! While the grill is still hot (or reheat), cook the marshmallows (on sticks or skewers, of course – I like mine WELL DONE), sandwich between graham crackers and chocolate as usual, then grill. Keep an eye on them and turn when everything almost melts, then cook until you get the “grillness” you like. Be careful, though, it can get messy, but sure tastes good! (Oh, I have a separate grill grate that is used for dessert/sweet stuff only!)

The best way to make s’mores in over the fire. We put our marshmellow on our stick and then push a piece of chocolate into the marshmellow before putting the mashmellow over the fire. The chocolate melts while the marshmellow cooks. My daughter thought of this one and now we all love it.

Brown marshmello over the campfire, place chocolate on gramcraker while browning the marshmello (careful not to burn!), enjoy!
