Every afternoon for lunch I have this yogurt along with some cottage cheese, maybe a piece of additional fruit, some water and then a walk around the block. I sit at a computer for hours on end in the office, this keeps me phycially active, and I’m feeding my body what it needs to maintain throughout the day.

We buy fresh fruit in season and keep it washed and ready to eat either in a bowl on the kitchen counter or table or in the refrigerator (depending on the storage needs of the fruit). Fresh fruit in season is less expensive and since it’s in our sight and ready to eat, it’s easiest to snack on something healthy like the seasonal fruit!

We also have had veggies be a big part of our snacking since the kids were very young – now carrots & peppers are one of their favorite snacks! Leading by example has worked great for us!!

Drink plenty of water. Beer, Sodas and Tea do not count as water. They dehydrate you more. I don’t drink beer, just tossed that in there. :)

I have little ones and my general rule is that I eat when they eat. I eat what they eat–things that are healthy, dehydrated kale, carrots, fruit, etc. If I go to grab something bad, I know that they’re going to ask for some, and I don’t want to get into the “if you’re having some, why can’t I?” debate.

My healthy, nutritional diet tip is in two parts. First, use a smaller plate so that it appears that you have more food. Second, eat a monounsaturated fatty acid at every meal. (avacado, olives, olive oil, peanut butter, walnuts, peanuts, flaxseed oil, the list goes one..)

Getting daily exercise and having fruit instead of “junk” food for snacking is of course very important but for me getting enough sleep is most important. After a good nights sleep it is much easier to resist unhealthy habits.
