Give Thanks

Every year as Thanksgiving approaches I look back on the year and look for things I am thankful for. There are so many things to be thankful for this year including happy and healthy children, my supportive husband, my blog, my immediate family, fantastic friends, and FREEDOM! Freedom makes me thankful for the soldiers who fought for our freedom and continue to serve our country each and every day.

7-Up and Canada Dry are partnering with the Military Warrior Support Foundation this year to raise money for warriors who need our support. If you want to help our too, share what you have to be thankful for on your social media pages by using the hashtag #Thanksgiveitup. Dr Pepper Snapple group will donate $1 each time the hashtag is used up to $25,000. Donations are used to provide wounded warriors in need with no mortgage payments!

Here is a a fun 7-Up recipe!

Please visit Military Warrior Project to share what you’re thankful for this year and give your support.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups baking mix (Jiffy or Bisquick)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup 7-Up soda (any clear carbonated drink will work)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. Cut the sour cream into your biscuit mix. “Cutting in” is simply incorporating your sour cream, butter or shortening into your dry baking mix without using a mixer. You can use a fork, knife, pastry cutter or the tools God gave you, your fingers. You just want to make sure that each portion of your {wet} ingredient gets coated with the dry mix.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup 7 Up. The dough will be very soft, don’t worry.Sprinkle additional baking mix on to your counter, about a 1/2 cup seems to work just fine. Knead and fold dough until coated with your baking mix.
  4. Pat dough out, (no rolling pin needed) and cut biscuits using a round biscuit/cookie cutter. Don’t have one, no problem, you can certainly use a glass or empty soup can to cut out your biscuits. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Improvising is fine.
  5. Melt butter in a 9 inch square pan. I stick my pan and butter in the oven for a few minutes. Just a few though, the butter will burn, so watch it.
  6. Place cut biscuits on top of melted butter and bake for 12-15 minutes or until brown.
