DIY Pink Flamingo-Owl Costume

Pink Flamingo Bird Costume for Halloween - DIY

I’m not usually the overachieving mom but this Owl Costume for a school program definitely earned me a few “try hard” comments. I’m usually the one scrambling around right before the event trying to scrap together a costume. This time I planned ahead and used the internet to help me. In your face other moms. ;) #overachieving (This was the exact hashtag I used when I originally posted this!)

The costume is kind of a combo between a owl and a pink flamingo. I tried to go for a pink flamingo look while picking out the colors for her costume and then the mask was kind of a last minute piece to the costume.

The adorable owl mask wasn’t allowed during the school program because they were all to wear some paper headband they made at school. She was a little disappointed but a girl has to do what the teacher tells her to do. I found the template over at the Educator’s Spin On It blog. We used our friendly hot glue gun instead of sewing.

To create the costume, I used the instructions over at Felt So Cute blog. All you need is a inexpensive sweatshirt, felt pieces, and a glue gun. Felt pieces are around 3 for $1. If you sew, you may prefer to sew your wings on rather than glue them. Since we were only going to use this for 1-2 events, I thought that glue would be good enough.

So adorable! This would make a great DIY Halloween Costume too!
