Easy Pico de Gallo Recipe

Easy Pico de Gallo Recipe via @BargainBriana

If you are like me you have basil and tomatoes coming out your ears in the garden! There are a few great recipes that’ll allow you to use handfuls of basil and that’s how I created this super simple recipe…it’s only 3 ingredients!

  • 4 tomatoes, ideally Roma, but any will do, diced
  • Handful basil, chopped
  • Medium Size Red Onion, diced

Ok, so here’s where you should pay attention! The secret to a great Pico is equal parts. So when you are slicing and dicing be sure to pay close attention to ensure that everything has an even amount. You don’t want one ingredient to be the star of the show!!

Place ingredients in a bowl with a pinch of salt and stir. This will help the tomatoes sweat a little bit and give your pico de gallo a little sauce, if you will! You can serve at room temperature or cold with your favorite tortilla chips. This would also be delicious served on french bread too!

Enjoy!

Doesn’t pico de gallo have cilantro instead of basil??
Tomatoes, onion and basil are key ingredients to make up bruschetta though….

This is just a different spin on it with basil! You can happily substitute cilantro for the basil if you prefer that flavoring!
