How to Get Organized in Just 15 Minutes Per Day

How to Get Organized in Just 15 Minutes Per Day

Getting organized is really not all that complicated. In fact, just a few minutes per day can get you there in relatively short order. The key is to break it down into bite sized chunks and to be persistent. If you have fifteen minutes per day, you have plenty of time to get better organized. Here are some thoughts and ideas on how to get started:

How to Get Organized in Just 15 Minutes Per Day

Begin by making a list

The first thing you need to do is to organize your needs. What areas of your life needs organizing the most? What parts of your home? What parts of your job? What about your car? You get the idea. Make a list of all the needs you have where organization is concerned. This list is a great start towards getting more organized.

Prioritize the list

Take this list and rank it from top to bottom by importance. Determine which things will have the biggest impact and do those first. Which things will help you the most? This priority list will help you to work on the most important things first.

Break down the list into bite sized chunks

Here is where the rubber meets the road. Take the first thing on your list and break it down into tasks. Make sure that none of the tasks will take more than fifteen minutes. Each task should lead into the next and you can easily break them down further if you need to. Only break down the first thing on the list so that you finish this quickly as well.

Work through the first task list with fifteen minutes each day

Once you go through and complete each of the tasks, you will then be in position to maintain an organized lifestyle in that area. Break down the next task into fifteen minute “jobs” and continue with that. Eventually you will get through the entire list.

View each job as a quick and easy task

Because the tasks are so small, you will begin to feel as though you are being very productive. There is something very powerful about checking off an item on a list. Each time you complete a fifteen minute job, you get to do that. Spend time working on the list each and every day and you will eventually be down to nothing. You can always add new fifteen minute jobs to help out if you lag behind in a particular area. This is something that can work for pretty much anything that requires regular maintenance or attention. We just have to manage our time and be persistent.

At this point, it is just about maintaining your organization level. Fifteen minutes per day can get you there, but nothing says you can’t simply do more. Having them in quick, bite sized tasks makes you feel motivated to do even more. That is the beauty of the concept. The key is to accomplish at least fifteen minutes of work each day on it.

Doing this will get you organized in no time and secure great habits for you in the future as well. What tips do you have for how to get organized quick and easy?

Not only do I love to tackle a good organization project, but I also like to talk about organizing and write about organizing and hear what other people have to say about organizing too.
