Save Money on Books

Do you have a book addiction that needs to be fed frequently? It seems that the prices of new books keep increasing each time one is released. With these tips below on places to look for books you should be able to save money on books that you are looking to purchase and have plenty to read at the beach and all winter long.

Here are some great places you can save money on books:

The Local Library

You knew this one would be on the list! To save the most money on books, just get a library card to your local city library. They not only have hundreds or thousands of books to read but usually also have movies to rent, books on cd, and much more.

Paperback Swap

Paperback Swap is a free site to join where you can list books that you no longer want or need. When someone else decides they want your book, you mail it off to them (you pay for postage) and once they receive it, you get a credit on the site. With your credit you can order any book off the site you wish!

Thrift Books

Thrift Books sells their books for under $4 and has free shipping on the books you purchase. You can also save 15% off your next order when you refer friends to Thrift Books.

Campus Books

If you are in college or need some college course books you might want to check out Campus Books before you buy from the school’s bookstore. Campus Books sells course books at a discount and you can also rent books instead if you’d rather not spend as much money and you can sell your books back to Campus Books when you are done with them.

Amazon

There are a few different ways to save on books at Amazon. First you will want to make sure you check the site daily for free Kindle book downloads. You don’t even need a Kindle to read – simply download the free kindle app to your computer and read for free. Amazon also sells some great used books for as low as $0.01 so you basically only have to pay shipping. You can even sell your books back to Amazon when you are done with them and they will pay the postage.

Used Book Stores

When in search for the perfect book for less you also will want to check out used book stores, thrift stores, and garage sales. All sell books inexpensively. At thrift stores and garage sales you should be able to find plenty of reads for under $1.

Books Free

At Books Free you can rent bestselling new books. You pay by the month based on how many books you want to rent at a time (similar to Netflix but for books!). Monthly plans start at only $7.50 and Books Free pays the shipping both ways.

Half

At Half.com you can not only buy inexpensive books, but you can also find cheap DVDs, music, textbooks, and more. It’s definitely worth a look before you buy new.

With all these places to save money on books, why would you ever buy new again? Which is your favorite place for saving money on books? Have you tried any of these websites before for buying books?

Over the last few months, I have purchased dozens of books from Amazon.com used book section. Any title, any author listed on the Amazon new book section is available at the used book dealers section of Amazon.com. You can literarily buy new or slightly used books for pennies. Always look for book’s condition. Most book sellers are honest about that aspect of their books. They have recently raised the shipping charges from $2.99 to $3.99. One can still save tones of money on used books, the way new books are priced these days.
