One of the biggest time and money savers your family will find is to utilize meal plans. Meal plans can be simple or complex according to your needs, so Organizing Your Meal Plans will help considerably. Keeping track of what your family enjoys, what is easy and what is budget friendly can help keep your family on track with your budget and health.
Organizing Your Meal Plans
Make A List Of Favorite Meals: This part is the fun part that everyone gets involved with. Sit down with your family and make a list of all of your favorite meals. Let everyone chime in with their favorites. This list will make it easy to build your weekly or monthly menu plan quickly. Make as long a list as possible to give you plenty of room to change things up each month. Keep this list handy for reference whenever it is time to make your menu plan.
Organize Your Recipes: Whether you reference cookbooks or random recipes people have given you through the years, keeping them organized is important. Store your cookbooks in an easy to access location. For other recipes it may be beneficial to type them all up and store in a simple three ring binder in a central location you can grab at any time.
Stock Your Pantry With Meal Staples: Go over your list of favorite meals and look for patterns in ingredients. Make sure to keep those items on hand that you will use for multiple meals. Things like pasta, sauces, canned beans, canned vegetables, canned tomatoes and more are great to keep on hand in your pantry to easily complete your weely menu plan recipes with.
Keep Track Of Each Weeks Plan In A Central Location: Invest in a chalkboard, dry erase board or simple printable menu plan to post in your kitchen each week or month. This will help you stay on top of your menu for the week with ease. It also helps when kids or your spouse may need to help out with meals.
Organizing your menu plans will save you tons of time and money during the week. Not only will you be able to keep track of what you are making for dinner, you will have the needed items on hand with ease.
