No home is truly organized until you tackle that frustration we all have in our bedrooms, the closet. Organizing Your Closets is a task that often causes deep sighs and frustration, but we hope that these tips will make it easier to keep your closet organized from this point forward. A few tricks will keep your closet easy to navigate.
Organizing Your Closets
Purge Clothing: Start with items that don’t fit. Accept the fact that you have gained or lost, and let go of the old clothing. If you resell those items in a thrift sale, you can easily make back the money you need to buy new clothing that fits well. Also purge any item that hasn’t been worn in the last year. If seasonal clothing is still in your closet, then think about what was worn last season and purge anything that has been hanging there for multiple seasons.
Move Seasonal Clothing To Storage: Whether you fold and store in the attic, underbed storage or in the top of you closet in vacuum sealed bags, moving seasonal items out of your closet is important. It’s hard to find what you are looking for when you have to sort through items that are too hot or too cold to wear.
Sort By Style: If you work outside the home, you likely have business or uniform clothing. Sort your business and work apparel separately from your casual wear. This makes it easier to grab something for work in a hurry each morning.
Sort By Color: Many people find it much easier to navigate their closet when items are sorted by color. This is especially helpful and easy for people who tend to stick to the same color schemes most of the time in their wardrobe.
Use A Dresser Or Chest of Drawers For Foldable Items: T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, lounge wear, lingerie and underwear are all better of stored in drawers than hung in a closet. Depending on your closet and the space provided, you may even have a shelving system or set of drawers within it for this purpose.
Use Special Hangers: There are hangers for pants that allow you to easily hang multiple pair that we love. There are also special hangers that collapse for more storage, or fun hangers for things like scarves, belts and other accessories. These are great space savers in a small closet.
One of the biggest problems found in organizing your closet is learning how to purge and let go of items no longer needed or worn. Once you get past that hurdle, you can utilize these simple and effective tips to declutter your closet and organize it to become useful for you. Ridding yourself of unnecessary clothing and streamlining your arrangement to make it easy to find what you need will make mornings easier. Determine you will let go of some items, and get your closet organized this week with ease!
