Reader Question: I love your tips tremendously but I’m just curious ~ what do you do with all these products? I couldn’t possibly use them all! Do you sell them on eBay?
Great question! What do I do with all my products! Most of the things we buy, we personally use. We have a large family which includes 4 growing kids and a husband. So we go through lots of foods, personal hygiene products, TOILET PAPER, etc!!!
I love having a great stockpile which lessens the number of emergency trips we have to make to the store. Which for me, always ends up costing me MORE money because I tend to put things in my cart that aren’t on the list. So having a large stockpile of basic necessities is great! It is also nice to have an assortment of medicines when someone gets sick. I Heart my stockpile.
As for Ebay, First, I don’t think that selling my shampoo/deodorant/whatever would be profitable. By the time I would pay listing fees, ship it (shampoo has to be pricey to ship!), etc., I don’t think it would be worth my time. Second, I personally don’t feel it is ethical. I know this is a great debate on all the coupon forums about this. I don’t judge the people who do because they may be in a situation where they have to have the money. I just don’t feel comfortable doing it. I have heard of people having great success selling their excess at rummage sales. Again, **I** don’t feel comfortable couponing for the sole purpose of reselling items. I will admit, I did sell (1) Garnier and (1) Swiffer Sweeper at a garage sale. <slinks behind computer> I makes me sad to think that there are people clearing the shelves at stores for the sole purpose of reselling. This is not the spirit of the coupon.
So what do I do with my excess? Most of my excess items go to my friends, family, co-workers, and as donations. I still don’t think Grandma needs anymore toothpaste! One year, I even gave some members of the family, a “Dental Care” gift pack which included all sorts of toothbrushes, toothpastes, mouth washes, etc. I always have things on hand in case we have an impromptu get together with friends or family. I have items I can give for gifts if we get a last minute birthday invite. The list goes on and on but having a large stockpile is great.

I have to agree. I couldn’t really sell the products, but I do have fun giving them to people. Several extended family members will have toothpaste and toothbrushes in their stockings this year. It is something we need.
