At the end of a hard day or a long week, the thought of soaking in a hot bath is what I look forward to the most. Soaking tired, overworked muscles from hiking up the mountain or chasing kids around the living room is a must at least once a week. Try these bath salt recipes and enjoy the magical properties of aromatherapy from the essential oils coupled with the extra benefit of the vitamins and minerals from bath salts. It is easy to make your own therapeutic bath salts using essential oils and soak your troubles away.
There are different types of bath salts that you can use in these recipes. The most readily available, and the cheapest, is Epsom salts. It is perfect to soothe sore muscles from physical exertion and it great in foot baths. You can pick these up at the drugstore or the grocery store. Himalayan Bath Salts come from deep within the Himalayan Mountains and is one of the purest salts there is. Another great salt to use with essential oils is Dead Sea Salt, which is from the Dead Sea in Israel. It is very high in both vitamins and minerals and is great to use to get grounded and reenergized.
With any of these recipes, choose your favorite bath salt and add in the recommended drops of essential oils. Soak for at least 20 minutes to allow the aromatherapy to take effect and for the salts and oils to be absorbed by the skin.
